50PZ750U Plasma better then Pioneer Pro-FHD1

by freddy202022 - 5/1/07 3:50 PM

Check out http://hdguru.com/ review of the Panasonic 50PZ750U. The TH-50PZ750 was placed side by side with the Pioneer PRO-FHD1 and the Panasonic won. I cannot wait for CNET to review this one.

I just got confirmation from the freight company that my 50pz750u is being delivered on Friday. I can't wait. I'll try to post a review over the weekend.

th-50pz750 vs. Th-50pz700u

I wouldn't be so dipressed the only difference between the models has to do with the "pro" agustments that they offer on it. The panel and the video processor are identical on both models. It is even housed in the same frame.

HD Guru Doesn't mess up, but I do

You can tell I'm not a die hard videopile. I got my model numbers messed up. I got the 50PZ700U, not the 750. Sound like that's what Freddy has as well. I think its a pretty amazing set. I don't think I could use the advanced setting that differentiate the 750 vs. 700 anyway. I've watched a couple episodes of the new Planet Earth on discovery HD. Amazing.

Is this true?

by Jonno1482 - 5/2/07 5:32 PM In reply to: 50PZ750U Plasma better then Pioneer Pro-FHD1 by freddy202022

There are a couple of problems I have with this article. If you look on the panasonic website they say the z750's wont be out until 3rd quarter '07. So how in the world does this dude have one to review yet? Secondly, he clearly states it has TWO HDMI ports. If you look at the features, the z700's have TWO HDMI ports while the z750's should have THREE HDMI ports.

I don't think this guy knows what he is reviewing.

Can you read ???

I bought my 700 in beg March and got it delivered in late march well before the supposed "April" Panasonic release date, if you would like to know where u can buy various electronics before release date let me know. The point you made on the HDMI is nonesense ??? "The front panel also houses a third HDMI jack" paragraph 3 last sentence ??? And lastly Gary Merson is a well respected HD guy in the nation, I dont think he would put his reputation on the line with faking a review.

Don't get your panties in a wad my friend. I didn't see the third HDMI slot part of the article. Where do you get products before they are released?

The TH-50PZ750 Panasonic reviewed is a early production sample obtained directly from Panasonic. As a leading reviewer recognized by the consumer electronics industry I am often sent early "pilot" production samples for review.

To attempt to convince "skeptics" that I really have the product on hand before the stores or other editors, the HD Guru™ posted a photo above the review of the TH-50PZ750.

BTW, other reviews and articles from the HDGuru™ continue to appear in leading print publications. Under the name "Gary Merson" you can find my work in issues of Home Theater, Robb Report's Digital TV, Sound and Vision, and other leading magazines. I have also written for CNET .

Pricing for the TH-50PZ750

by jamesd553 - 5/9/07 10:01 AM In reply to: The HD Guru™ comments by HD Guru

My question is if its "Limited Distribution" does that mean it will be nearly impossible to get a deal on one of these?

Post 13 of 16

Yes it will be difficult to get one of these

by freddy202022 - 5/9/07 3:03 PM In reply to: Pricing for the TH-50PZ750 by jamesd553

Panasonic Direct will not be selling them nor will Circuit City or Best Buy...

Panasonic TH-50PZ750U Availability

by nycenigma - 6/15/07 11:47 AM In reply to: Yes it will be difficult to get one of these by freddy202022

TH-50PZ750U has been available for sale since middle of last week from Panasonic Direct. Distribution is "limited". Less then 8 remain available as of 6/15/07. After these sell out, item is expected to be back ordered for some time. As far as I know there are no other sources from which to purchase this model. Look to pay the MSRP unless you are entitled to a special "freinds or family discount" issued to employees of various corporations. If you join Club Panasonic you can obtain free shipping. I would strongly recommend that if you are interested you call ASAP as this the studio reference mode, color control options and black chrome appearance make this the current "it" plasma TV. If you are looking for "reasonably" priced 1080P with the ability to tweak you own system then this would be a good choice. The Pioneer Pro-FHD offers a similar picture but lacks built in speakers and automatic reference control at a higher MSRP. However, the Pioneer Pro 50" 1080 P model has about two inches less depth which may make it more appealing to some. No info available yet on model reliability. Hope this helps.

addition, more than once, posters here have said they are reviewers of some kind & do get ahold of sets pre-release.
