by sinnerboy74 - 5/3/07 10:31 PMI installed Regseeker on XP sp2 to clean up my registry and after making backups with the program and a system restore point I cleaned up the registry. After the clean up I have problems with windows media player 11 in that it won't play dvds any more, music files are ok. When I start up my computer the log on music is also all scratchy and skipping.Same thing when I connect to the internet, I use dial up and when it's connecting the dialing tone does the same.
I tried restoring the deleted reg entries with regseeker backup and it restored all except some green entries. I get an error "can't acess the registry" when I try to merge them back in. I also tried restoring my computer to earlier dates but it won't restore. Can anyone please help me with this problem.

That's all of 3 links for you to read up and see if you can resolve the registry access issue. I can't give you a do this cure because the damage may be a bit too widespread for me to tell you to change access permission to a specific key.

Been using RegSeeker quite some time and have never had a problem with it. In fact this is the first I've heard about. It also may have been caused by a corrupt installation and RekSeeker needs to be installed again.
Green entries are mainly invalid path items such as shortcut and other files that are left behind by applications that that have uninstalled. It's been my experience that these are not backed up, or at least not restored as they are useless and really have no where to go.
If you have concern that something like a new application may damage the Registry, while System Restore [usually] helps The Emergency Recovery Utility NT
Registry Backup and Restore for Windows NT/2000/2003/XP/Vista can reliably backup and restore the entire registry with just a couple of clicks and it only takes a few seconds. Maintaining backups with it has saved my but a few times when System Restore wouldn't do the trick.

I scanned the computer with Spyware Terminator and in the report I got these two invalid start up entries,they've only been there since I ran Regseeker. I'm pretty much a beginer so not sure if they might be part of the problem maybe someone out there might have an idea.

As to NvCplDaemon go ahead and toast that since you can reinstall the NVidia drivers later.
