Help using NES or Super Nintendo on plasma Television.....

by jesushatesyou - 5/2/07 6:10 PM

Here's my problem, I have a 42" panasonic plasma tv. with no connection in the back for the nintendo or super nintendo to plug in with.. it's the same metal female screw piece that sticks out of the back of most tv's that cable hooks up to etc. but for some reason this TV does not have it. It only has audio video in/outputs. Is there a way to connect through maybe the regular audio video inputs in the tv or a piece of hardware i can buy for this? any help would be appreciated.

Are you SURE it doesnt have a coax input? Even though all plasma are high deff and everything, they still have coax inputs; or at least every TV i have ever seen.

Pro or commercial series

Many pro series plasma's will not have built in tuners, thus no coaxial connection.
You may even find that the "video" input uses a BNC type connector.
Lots of connection cables out there, and as one of the posts here has a link to, there are adapter cables for many of the gaming machines out there. If the plasma uses BNC connectors, there are also RCA - BNC adapters.

Some way or another you should be able to hook up your game system.

Buy a new output

On ebay you can buy an S-video connector for your SNES for about 5 dollars (it will be advertised as a connector for SNES/N64/Gamecube, they all use the same connector so it will work). This will provide the best color and clarity on your HDTV, as well as allow you to connect your SNES to it. Additionally, you will want to buy composite RCA cables for your NES and connect it to your HDTV. I guarentee you that you have RCA inputs.
