Here are a few tips on this page...

http://www.pcwarfare.com/cd-cdrw-dvd.toc.htm

Also another link for older versions of Music Matchbox since some of the newer versions have features turned off that used to be included in the free versions.

Useing a CREATIVE Digital Sound CARD..

by castingRod47 - 4/27/07 5:08 PM In reply to: creative sound card ct4830 in hp pavilion 9800 by dbowman9

I have seen two types of CREATIVE Sound Cards..
and mine is a Audigy 2 ZS..
It has a Program called WAVE-editor..which takes its INPUT from the Analog-IN and has its Adjustments in the Surround MIXER Controls..
..
What I have been doing is too use a VCR for Audio Only..
right now I have a 12-TAPE Audio BOOK that I purchased as USED from the Public library..
I have a brand NEW SONY Dual Cassette Player Recorder/but I decided to use my Portable Panasonic Tape Player..with its Auto-Reverse I can almost sit back and utilize the Large TAPE spectrum(SLP)of VHS(vcr)..getting 90-minutes onto VCR Tape..and just run up 6-HOURS-worth..
NEXT:........Plug a RCA Audio Cable into the OUTPUT Jacks of the VCR..and run it to the 1/8" MIC.Plug INPUT(analog)of the CREATIVE Sound Card..the CREATIVE WAVE-editor has a Contol Panel for PLAY-STOP-FF-RW-Record..plus Editing Features..
1./useing your MOUSE..Click the RECORD Button..
2./Push PLAY on the VCR..and the L/R audio BARS should start JUMPING Up...in the CREATIVE WAVE-editor Window..
3./at this point you may need to adjust the SOUND-Level..20db is considered a Low Volume..10db is a nice powerful SOUND-Level..
4./the CREATIVE Surround MIXER provides the sound level adjustments..
......................................................................My Standard Sound Levels across the Boards are set at [85]..
How-ever I sometimes drop to [70]for external INPUT Devices..
......................................................................
SOOOoooo.....prior to starting your Project...
Just set everything to [70]
..
Maybe you already have some experiance w/BASS-TREBLE..settings..
I tend to crank[UP]a bit things..
..
For Voice only TAPES..I would drop the BASS...and raise the Treble..
......................................................................
Adjustments are most times SLIGHT..
Just go in some direction///a little..
......................................................................
That's it..
I have been useing 192 kbps in MP3..its a large file..
but 96 kbps is fine also..depending on your useage..
a 2-GB iPOD might wish for a 96 kbps..
my DELL 15 GB gets 192 kbps..plus my DVD Video's use 192 kbps MP3 Files..in the RENDERING Process..for MPEG-2..
......................................................................
That's about it.....
..CREATIVE gives you a Digital OUTPUT..
But a Analog INPUT..plus a Microphone..
......................................................................
Does the CREATIVE Card offer you a Sound Editor..??
......................................................................ROXIO has a Nice Sound Editor..I just purchased a
EASY CD & DVD Burning Package..for $$29.00 with the Shipping Charges from NEWEGG..http://www.newegg.com/
......................................................................
The above does require a P4 Processor..and 512 MBs of RAM..
......................................................................
CREATIVE also requires a Pentium 4 Processor.
