We're looking for ideas on a good, yet cheap HD camcorder. I've seen the Sanyo that's out there...Is it any good? Are there any others in the same price range, i.e. $500-$600?
Thanks in advance

No HD camcorders that produce good video quality for less than $800 are available now. Your closest bet would be to find a Canon HV10 on sale somewhere. The Sanyo does not have a very high rating and I wouldn't recommend it for two reasons. 1) Its video quality is nothing be "wow"ed at and 2) flash memory is expensive and you can only fit a couple minutes of video even on a 2GB card.
The next best storage medium to use HD video well would be Hard Disk Drive camcorders due to their immense storage space. They will eventually grow in storage size and be capable of storing hours upon hours of HD video at a time.
Within the next year or two, HD camcorders will most likely decrease in price by a couple hundred dollars which will make it easier for people with lower budgets.
