Would someone please tell me whether the DMR-EZ17 upconverts to 1080p.

If you say yes, you're right:
"Other features common to all four new DVD recorders include 1080p up-conversion to accommodate the growing trend to 1080p displays..."
If you say no, you're also right:
"DMR-EZ17: DVD record/playback, Accutune digital/analog tuner, super multi-format record and playback support, 2X LP horizontal resolution, Dolby Digital and dts surround sound via optical output, DivX playback, DV auto recording."
(the descriptions for the 47 and 27 mention upconversion, although the 37 does not)
So which is it?
When they are trying to confuse me, I just stay away from them. You can't get hurt that way.
I assum it is NOT.
I was really excited about these (and the other DVD-Rs coming out), but now I'm seething because NONE of them pass through the HD signal they receive to the TV. They downconvert the HD signal being sent to the TV! And I'm not just talking about the Panasonics.
***!
Why would you do that?! Frickin' ripoff! Why don't you downconvert the digital audio and cut off my nuts while you're at it!
Anyone with an HD monitor looking to pickup a 2-for-1 with these new DVD-Rs, forget it.
The DMR-EZ17 does not upconvert. The DMR-EZ27 will, only through HDMI, but it's not available yet.
