I got it a few months after it was 1st released, I had a RX-V520 before (still got that too).
I still do not like the remote, other then that, I will keep-it until it dies or until I get a TV with HDMI 1.3, so 5 years ish.

It puts out a lot of heat, but I have it in a open cabit but still I may get a cooling fan this summer for it.

Keep the vents clean of dust & if you have anything on top make sure it doesn't block the vents &/or runs 'hot'.

MR GIVE WHY THIS 1.3 GIBBERISH

by stewart norrie - 4/12/07 9:26 PM In reply to: Happy by givemeaname

HOOK UP A BLUE RAY PLAYER with a standard old style ha ha h.d.m.i. cable direct to the t.v. I never run vidio thru my amp no way. you will see picture quality that is beyond belief better than 70m.m. film there is no way 1.3. is going to improve picture imposible so go ahead and wait while I enjoy theater quality picture, fact 1.3. will do nothing to improve picture quality Also why run digital thru an amp which most of the time will not pass thru a cable or satellite signal just more money simple change inputs on amp and t.v. To prove my point just tested out my friends new Kenwood h.d.m.i. switching amp tried running satellite and blue ray thru it sure enough picture blinked on and off using my hi-def satellite box thru amp and blue ray had a blank screen running 1080P stewe

:)

I don't keep tv's every long, the longest was 6 years & always go bigger too, everytime. So too with DVD players, on my 3rd now. Yes I am going to pick-up a Blu-ray (Samsung BD1200) in a few months.

The only reason for 1.3, for me, is the 'DeepColor', I have a good eye, when I have my glasses on.

This is the closest thing I could find. Owners thread for 1600 and 2600. I think that your model should be "hi-lighted" by my member-search-function, but Im not sure if it will appear for you. Over 2000 posts. Someone will be answer your questions.

I have heard of persons using fans from Radio Shack. They says its pretty quiet, haven't seen it though.

Mine's doing great

by pn56matt - 4/12/07 9:03 PM In reply to: Yamaha rxv-1500 recever by DAN GALLOWAY

I've had mine since Jan 05 and it works the same as it did the day I bought it. The only reason I'd ever upgrade is I will eventually want the HDMI switching and HD sound, but that'll be a another year or two.
