I am running Xp home service pack 2 and the other day I was reading a spyware horror stiry on cnet... I saw that they said that scvhost.exe was a backdoor... I tried to end the processes, but then it shut my computer off....I have Norton 360, Spybot Search And Destroy,Ad-Aware,AVG,And a Hardware Firewall[e.g. A router]. I still cannot get this process to end... if there is any other programs that I could try...I'm thinking about formatting the drive.....Any Help Will Be Appriciated..... Thanks!
"Scvhost.exe" can be a problem... "Svchost.exe" is a common and necessary system process (generic host process)on your computer. Similar but the spelling is slightly different.
Use Google to check the difference.
Hope this helps.

You said that have AVG,is this anti virus or anti spyware?
Check this scvhost.exe.
"svchost.exe" is normally
"scvhost.exe" is a problem
Try AVG ANTI SPYWARE and/or TROJAN HUNTER
You might have to purge system restore, thats is disable system restore, run the scans in safe mode including anti virus as well as the programs mentioned above, then enable system restore.
Then install and run CCLEANER to remove any invalid entries in the registry.Use the issues and cleaner on the left in ccleaner.

If that scvhost.exe file is spelled correctly it could be related to the W32/Agobot-S virus. Are you sure that the file name isn't svchost.exe which is a viable Windows XP file and should be located in the folder C:\Windows\System32 folder. If your computer is infected turn off System Restore then run your virus scan in SAFE mode. If the scan comes up clean turn on System Restore again.

Everyone seems to have covered the whole spelling variant aspect quite well, so I'll just chuck in that one of the best ways to avoid this problem is to adopt an "anything but Internet Explorer" policy for web browsers.
Let security researchers and security nerds debate about the reasons for IE being the far and away leader in malware, all you really need to remember is that it IS the far and away leader, and so using it probably isn't the wisest of ideas. So moving to any browser that is in no way related to Internet Explorer (basically Firefox and Opera on Windows), you in large part remove yourself as a target for malware. It probably won't always be this way, but you can at least enjoy the good times while they last.
It is not a sign of spyware. If you've completed all those scans and don't visit dodgey web sites, download via P2P, run cracked software then there is likely no issue here.
However you wrote scvhost.exe which is a process which is registered as W32/Agobot-S virus. One small typo? It's proper you can't end that process but must use tools to eject the pest.
You can if you want do a few scans with tools noted at this sticky link -> http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=238606&messageID=2432058
