its already set to off
How do you connect ? What modem - internal or external ? Bridge ? Although DSL is available 24/7, do you have to connect or does your modem connect automatically ? Did it work before ? Is a router/wireless involved ?
its D-link ADSL router.
btw i dont have to connect anything manually but it gets connected as soon as my pc loaded.
It's possible that hibernate loses your ISP connection because the ISP cannot get a reply from your computer when it sends any messages.
The computer and the ISP are talking together regularly to keep in contact and refresh your IP address.
One thing I have to do when my cable broadband loses connection sometimes, (eg when I have to reboot the cable set-top box), is to "Repair" the connection.
If you have a network icon in the System Tray, (the tray where the clock is), double click the icon and bring up the Network Status window. If you don't have a icon, goto My Network Places, make sure you can "View all connections", and double click your network connection.
Click the "Support" tab, and find the button for "Repair". Click that and Windows will attempt to repair the connection. This may solve the problem without having to reboot each time.
For my own part I stay away from hibernation. It is often problematical in Windows. If I intend to go away from the computer for a while I will set a simple screen saver and then turn off the monitor.

actually i tried this too before but no avail. it said something like could not repair ..blah..blah..
Interestingly i see "status" on system as connected.
it has not worked since, and only since you have hibernation ? If so, it seems normal behavior. When you go into hibernation, connection is cut off. When you recover from hibernation, the system "returns to Windows", but your dynamic IP address assigned before hibernation is no longer valid(due to the connection being cut off because of going into hibernation). Only at a reboot can the new IP address assigned be detected to allow connection to the Internet. (unless your IP address is static.)

"Papa Echo"
actually it does not happen everytime.but many times what happens is i just cant browse after booting from hibernate and only solution is restart PC and everything will be fine.
Hi
Thank you all for your advise on this.
i finally found solution.seems Zonealarm (firewall) is the culprit.
i had to add DHCP and DND server addressess as trusted in zonealarm settings and its all good since then.
Hello,
I am new here. I have same problem with Hibernating.
I connect with ADSL router/modem Huawei MT882. This has USB, LINK,
Activity, Power LEDs.
Problem is if by chance the power of MT882 is off when hibernating,
next time I boot then USB LED never comes on even if I try Device
Manager to detect changes in Hardware. I have to reboot with power to
MT882 on then only internet works.
My PC is P3/833MHz. It is very slow to reboot and takes about
10minutes to finish with all things like AVGfree testing and what not.
Hibernate is nice thing and everything starts in a flash. MT882 takes
about 30seconds to establish LINK and that delay is bearable.
Does anybody knows how to establish USB connection after hibernating?
USB is supposed to be HOT thing and any new device starts automatically but not this MT882.
Thanks in advance,
purushottam
