I know that MVNOs like Helio don't get a real look from mainstream consumers, but I think their upcoming Ocean could be a nice piece of equipment for us who can't afford the iPhone.
I checked their site, and it looks like $65 per month is their point of entry. So, CNET-ters, what do you think of Helio's service, and what do you think of the Helio Ocean?
I like helio's service. I may have been one of the first people to switch over to their service when they first came out. I got the kickflip. at $85 at the time, for all you can eat data and 3g connection it worked like a champ. I was on myspace, adding comments anding pictures to peoples site. Updating my own myspace. it was fun. The only thing that turned me off at the time, had to do with the battery life of the kickflip. lasted 1 day on a full charge and died the next day. No fault of Helios just of the phone. The service itself worked, i got reception everywhere that all the major carriers had. At the time, there was not much content as there is now, i.e. music d/ls, videos and games.
As for the Ocean, it looks good. Maybe a little thick, but if you like think phones it may not be a problem. The ocean maybe one of the best phones out there for Helio, as a "smartphone" with the all you can eat data. I would say go get it if you are looking for an innovative and useful phone.
Good Luck.
