Recently got a new computer with Windows Vista and had purchased a "lifetime upgrade license" back in the old days for Musicmatch Jukebox. I shouldn't have been surprised, but Musicmatch 10 is not capatible with Vista so I was taken to the Yahoo Musicbox download page. Emailed Yahoo and they said they would honor the Musicmatch license but I would have to purchase Yahoo Musicbox Plus and then call customer support for a refund or wait for an indeterminate amount of time until they come up with a way of converting the old licenses.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether I should go through the trouble of updating Yahoo Musicbox or just use Windows Media Player 11?
Is there a service attached to Musicmatch/Yahoo that you use a lot? Or do you just use it as your own jukebox player?
If it's the latter, then I'd say stick with WMP 11 - it's slick, fast and intuitive. Of course, I've never used Yahoo Musicbox, but I am happy with WMP 11 since I switched to it.

I don't subscribe to a service. I had used Musicmatch as my catalog manager and player. Also bought a couple of tracks that can't be directly used anymore (need to copy to CD and rerip).
I also have the same issue going on with Musicmatch not working with Vista. I emailed Musicmatch (now Yahoo Music) and they explained the same thing - purchase Yahoo Musicmatch Plus and then get a refund. This is absurd considering I have never used the Yahoo Musicbox before. I paid for the unlimited lifetime upgrades for Musicmatch and also subscribe to the gold package Radio, which I use regularly and is one of the reasons I use Musicmatch. I have spent nearly $100 on Musicmatch products (about $60 on Musicmatch Plus and all future versions, and $30 Gold Radio) in the past 12 months, thinking I would never have to worry about upgrading or paying for Musicmatch ever again. Little did I know this would be a wasted investment.
Yesterday, I requested that Yahoo provide me with a phone number so I can talk to them about what I called a "complicated matter." Also, I read through the user agreement when I started to install updates for Musicmatch on my old computer (Windows XP) and it says that Yahoo is not obligated to keep coming out with new versions of Musicmatch. I wonder if they ever plan to issue a Vista compatible version? I wonder if this is the end of Musicmatch Jukebox? I wonder if I'll ever see my $100 again?
I actually had to write a 5 paragraph email to Yahoo asking for a refund of my musicmatch subscription fees and radio fees. To my suprise, they actually agreed to refund my money. I'm using Media Player with Vista and it is actually kinda nice. It doesn't have radio, so I am searching for a good online radio service - one with cd quality sound and no commercials. Any suggestions?
Can't believe that Yahoo will not provide upgrade to Musicmatch for those with Vista OPS. Like many of you I have been using Musicmatch for many years & have purchased the the entire package, On Demand,Radio and all future versions. There must be something that can be done, If anyone out there has any yahoo contact information please reply. There was a posting on the yahoo " Ask a question " forum that stated there would be upgrade to Musicmatch in the next 2 months. not sure if there is any truth to that. Since buying new computer with Vista, I have lost access to Nero 6, Iriver IFP-790 player and now Musicmatch. Also Incredimail does to work properly.
In my email to Yahoo/Musicmatch, I requested a phone number but they said do not handle customer concerns through phone so tha they can "have a record of" the issue. I sent the 5 paragraph refund request to musicmatch-tech@cc.yahoo-inc.com and they got back to me within 2 business days or so.
As I said before, I'm using Window Media Player to organize my music, but I'm now realizing how much I miss the "auto tagging" option that Musicmatch has. I wonder if there are any players that can do this?
like all internet fraud it should be reported to your State's Attorney General
Hi, can you post your 5 paragraph refund request? I guess it sounds convincing, I will modify it and send it as well.
I also paid for a lifetime license years ago, I love Musicmatch over any other player, but I guess Yahoo does not CARE about their customers.
SHAME ON YOU YAHOO, INC!!!!!
They BURY this number and was NOT easy to find, but here it is after a 3 hour hunt; entirely free to you:
Yahoo Technical Support: 408-349-1572 Guard with you life!
I've used MMJB for 10 years. Over these years I had On Demand (when they released it) and two "Plus Lifetime Upgrades". It was developed by a really good engineer who cared very much about his customers in the early years. He then died. Yahoo got a hold of it last year and down it went.... NO Vista which I find pretty lame. LOSS = $400.
I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Dual Core, Dual Channel OS. I'm also running MusicMatch Version 10.00.4033 with no problems whatsoever. It must be installed, however, under the "Administrator" installation option for Vista. There was an initial problem with Vista - so, working with Microsoft technicians we found 1 GB of RAM is insufficient. "Blue Screens of Death" (BSODs) were a common occurrence until I upgraded my RAM to 2 GB. No problems since! MusicMatch is a 'hog' for RAM so I suggest anyone having problems upgrade their RAM. Program features of MusicMatch are far superior to the new Yahoo MusicMatch Jukebox. I tried the latter but un-installed it as a 'bad experience' and don't plan on going back! I also like MusicMatch much better than "JetAudio".
I have had musicmatch Plus since 2002. Most of my songs were saved on disk in a data form, others were burned to mp3 cd's. Since my computer was hit by lightning I had to purchase a new PC and I got windows Vista. MM plus is not compatible and had to download Yahoo Plus.I even saved the entire Musicmatch Plus program and it would NOT download with Vista. If anyone has paid for Music match Plus ,,, there is a way to download and upgrade to Yahoo Plus without any cost. I just did it. It will also import your songs to Yahoo. Had to email musicmatch a few times and still had my old key number.
Got Yahoo going but it will not read my files burned to MP3. The data files were no problem. The mp3's will only play on Media Player. Please help, if anyone out there has any suggestions. I SURE do miss musicmatch, it was the BEST.
I have been using Music Match since the mid to early 1990's. As far as I'm concerned Music Match Plus is far superior for editing files and burning MP3 CDs. As I do not live in the US I cannot use the music file downloads nor do I particularly want the files I see offered by Yahoo. The MM Juke Box, coupled with Altec Lansing speakers and sub-woofer offers a 'super sound'. I currently have approximately 4,500 songs archived within my music libraries. I have the full Music Match 10 program fully archived also so if I need to reinstall I do not have to go through Yahoo (not possible now anyway). I also have the activation Key for re-installation when and if needed.
I purchased over 400 songs from Musicmatch.com (MM)and the PC where I had all the downloaded music crashed. I had the music folders transferred into the new PC, but now that I want to play/copy/burn the MM music, I keep getting errors regarding license authentication error messages. As we all know, MM is no longer in service and I did a conversion from MM to Yahoo Music, but in a different computer and when I try to play/burn the MM music, I keep getting those error messages. Does anyone know how I can get MM downloaded music to play? I also have a MM key, and I keep getting an error message indicating that is an invalid key.
Any advice/suggestion in order to fix this problem will be appreciated.
Please let me know how to correct this? Do I have to buy Yahoo Music services or is there some other software or download that can fix this issue?
