My easy exit was to make such on audio-CD, then re-rip with CDEX.

May you find your own solution and why not get the Microsoft "license?"

I admit to not knowing anything about this, so bear w/ me. I am having the same problem of not being able to listen to WMA files in anything other than my computer. I have figured out that I need to convert the WMA's to another format -- I'm assuming MP3 format -- which (I hope!) will then allow me to burn cd's I can play in a home/car stereo. My question is will an audio conversion software pgm work? And if so, do you have any recommendations? Is that what CDEX is? I've got a Windows Media Plus ad in my computer that features an audio converter, but wanted to check w/ some experts to be sure that would solve my issue of wanting a cd that plays in non-computer machines before I purchased..

thanks!

If all you want to do is burn an AUDIO cd that will play in regular CD and DVD players you can do this with your WMA files and Windows Media Player. I don't have the player in front of me right now but when you go to burn you may not have noticed that you have two choices when you are selecting your destination drive (your burner). You can burn as a DATA cd which means you are burning WMA files to a CD so you need another WMP or application that can play WMA files to read it. The other choice is to burn as an AUDIO CD which will convert the WMA files to CDA files that any player can read. Of course you can't fit more than about 74 minutes onto any one CD but the WMP will let you know if you have selected too much music for your burn. Pretty straight forward but it's often missed...DATA or AUDIO.

I used AudioConverter a couple times and it works great, you can convert to and from mp3/wma plus some other formats. its 30 day trial and only $20 after that. Your only other choice would be to find a converter that converts to .wav and then a seperate converter that converts to .mp3, but thats a pain and costs alot of HD space if your doing alot of songs.

As for playing a CD on a regular CD player, you must convert it to an "audio" CD. Windows Media Player has a CD burning option in it as long as you have the right version. I think the new version of Nero also supports wma. If you made it an mp3 cd you would have to have an mp3 CD player, and that would realy be burning it as a "data" CD not an audio cd.

hope that helps

Hey i had trouble before with converting. i found a program that does just try the trial version its good the only set back is that you can only convert 1 at a time but if you buy it, who knows it might work better. here is a link http://www.cooolsoft.com/index.htm

Cyberlink sells an update to Media Player to record to the hard drive in MP3 format: http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/index.jsp

or you can get a program that will convert wma files to mp3 files, either retaining the original wma files or deleting such. That is available at http://www.litexmedia.com/?from_WMAWorkshop.

I have converted my music to both formats depending on which player I will be utilizing.

Hope this helps.
