I have windows xp with IE7. All was ok last night but when i logged on this morning it was all messed up. My menu and tool bar have gone. I have no tabs, when i try to click a link nothing happens. I have tried to restore to a previous date but no joy. I have also tried the windows site and attempted to reinstall IE7 but it wont respond when I click the links.
I have McAfee total protection and have run a scan for virus and spywear but its all clear.
Anyone tell me what the problem could be.
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. • On General tab, click Delete, and then click Delete All. At the bottom of the page, select Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons, and then click Yes. Click Close.
• Click the Security tab, and then click Reset all Zones to Default Level.
• Click the Advanced tab, and then click Restore Advanced settings.
To reset all settings to Internet Explorer default settings, follow these steps.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Click Reset.
If none of these steps work, shut off computer and turn back on and as you press the power on start tapping the F8 key, once you get into advanced boot options highlight the option safemode with networking>press enter>back on the desktop try IE7>if it works in this mode>the problem is a firewall or conflict with 3rd party program. Try to uninstall in add/remove programs like google tool bars yahoo tool bars etc. If this does not work>click on top frame of ie7 and choose menu bar if unchecked to bring back tool menu>otherwise I would suggest you have a malware called hijacking program if so>google the website "hijack this"and find site and follow instructions >best of luck Jeff
