Turning off ZoneAlarm Spam Blocker

by NickMets7 - 3/31/07 10:57 AM

Hello everyone. Since the new free version of ZoneAlarm came out, I decided to download it and upgrade from the old free version (now I have the latest version 7.0.337.000). This version includes a new feature - Spam Blocking. Unfortunately, I don't need it because I have Outlook 2003 and that blocks spam perfectly well - I don't need an extra. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off in the Free version? The HELP guide only describes how to do this for the full-paid Security suite, and I have no idea how to do turn Spam Blocker off in the new free-version.

Thanks for all your help!

- Nick

Nick, See if this will help

In Microsoft Outlook navigate via Tools > Options > Advanced Options > Com Add-Ins. Remove the tick from MailBuddy Outlook Addin. This will remove the problem. To restore MailBuddy Outlook Addin just replace the tick.

I found another solution

Below solution was posted in my forums (Calendar of Updates):
http://www.dozleng.com/updates/index.php?showtopic=13625

"ZoneAlarm 7.0.337.000 (free) installs a software called 'MailFrontier', which in turn installs a scanner & toolbar in Outlook. I am not sure if everybody wants that - I certainly don't!

Unlike with 7.0.302.000, there is no uninstaller in Add/Remove Programs. However, there is still a way to uninstall it:

Close Outlook
Windows Explorer, open C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\MailFrontier
Double-click UNWISE.EXE
When prompted for the install.log file, use C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\MailFrontier\INSTMLF.LOG
on the MailFrontier uninstall panel, select Automatic [Next>], then [Finish]
"

Give it a try Nick.

2nd Option Works!

Thank you for the quick response! I had already tried the 1st option, but everytime I'd delete the add-in, it would just re-install itself upon re-opening Outlook.

That being said, the 2ND OPTION WORKED after restarting my computer and deleting the MailFronteir folder.

Thank you again!
