by stoneysilence - 3/29/07 10:04 AM

Anybody know what the max SD/MMC Size is for the Rio S50? I currently got a 1GB card in it but want to know if I can put in a 2GB or a 4GB card? Anybody tried it?

http://www.rioworld.org/ has a lot of info about some units. This is where I'd look first.

Nope

It says there are forums there but I couldn't find them. Only a drivers page for my Rio which I found at Rio's website too. Rio's website said 1GB but could work on greater than that. But not tested.

Any other ideas where to find this info?

If 1 GB works, then 2GB might. More is not likely.

At the 4GB point there is a big change that couldn't be supported. With 2GB cards at 19 to 25 bucks, try one.

4GB SDHD are different but there are some 4GB normal

I know that the 4gb+ range they get into the new SDHD format which this player wouldn't use, but there are a few 4GB cards that are not the HD format. Think they might work?

Very unlikely.

I'll defer to the Wikipedia but FAT is all I saw the players of that day support and you read the user feedback about FAT32.

I'd stick with 2GB. It's cheap enough. In our Civic we have 1/2 that 2GB card filled and that's a lot of songs.

Thanks, I think your right. I just looked at OCZ's website for that card I linked and it says it's SD 2.0 while the 2GB cards are SD 1.1.
