24 inch widescreen Dell LCD

by Barzenak - 3/29/07 5:38 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Upgraded to this baby this year. 1200x1920 res, media card reader, ubs ports, dvi, svideo, comp video ports. 1000x brightness... a solid stand that extends. It has a real quality feel to it...heavy for an lcd ..no dead pixels. I am a gamer and love this monitor after having a 19inch trinitron this was a nice improvement for me.

I watch movies on it..no ghosting. Gaming is great on it...Fear, WoW, Oblivion etc. Worth the money as I recently hooked up a Hanns G 19 inch ws monitor for a bud and it was by far much cheaper in feel and features. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Dell 24" Widescreen and Gateway 21" Widescreen

by thepit47 - 3/29/07 5:41 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Both of these monitors are stellar and reasonably priced. I've had no issues with either one. The base stand on the Gateway seems to be better and operates more smoothly. Both are LCD and monitor quality is fantastic. Although the Dells are highly praised and very popular for good reason, don't discount the Gateway as it is just as good if not better than the Dell.

21" Dell P1110

by charithjperera - 3/29/07 5:55 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Hey, ive got a Dell P1110 21" CRT, its pretty good, its chunky and its very bright, this is common with this monitor and you need to reduce the brightness further in the video card settings to be able to use properly!

Monitor ...

by TheBigfut - 3/29/07 6:00 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I just recently bought a Westinghouse LCD 19" widescreen(LCM-19W4) and it replaced two 17" CRT monitors. I gained TONS of desktop space physically and have the same amount of viewing area. Hoping in another 6 months or so to upgrade to a 22" or 24" wide screen for a decent price(I paid $170 for this one)maybe get a set of em. And if anyone else has this monitor trust me when I tell ya make sure to use the DVI-D cable otherwise picture image is not that good.

19 in. wide screen View Sonic LCD

by eeljcobweb - 3/29/07 6:10 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I watch movies on it all the time with a surround sound package.
Love it for Movies but when I use a picture for background it distorts it and streches it out.

24" DELL-Not as great as one might imagine

by dwielgosz - 3/29/07 6:23 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I inherited this new DELL 24FPW(I believe thats the Model) and while "bigger is sometimes better" I find that it's actually somewhat uncomfortable because of the width, especially when a window is sometimes maximized and I find myself panning my head from far left to far right to see all. It's probably exasperated because I wear glasses and there is so much screen to "aim" my stare at. This is strictly a work (office) PC and would probably be great if I had it at home for movies and such.

15" (non-widescreen)

by psiddle - 3/29/07 6:32 AM In reply to: What size monitor do you have for your main computer? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

My main computer is a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop that is 5 years old! I am on my third hard drive and have recently purchased a ThinkPad X60s (I travel presenting seminars for a living) that I will use with its docking station utilizing an external monitor (not purchased yet).

I think I will purchase a 17" external (non-widescreen) monitor...the widescreens do not appeal to me.

I have a 19 in Sony LCD monitor with satellite TV input-quite satisfactory results in all areas including side vision and black balance.
