This monitor was given to me and it is terrific. The resolution is incredible, and I use it and my laptop for an extended desktop situation. It has Trinitron or a similar technology so it is like watching an lcd but it just takes up more room. I also use my laptop in my room or away from home.
I went from a 15" LCD monitor to a 17". Now that prices are steadily falling, even on the major brands, one of these days I'll get a wide screen monitor - a 19" if I have to, but I'd prefer 20" or 22".
Until 24” to 30” single monitors challenge 2 x 17” or 2 x 19” I am sticking with dual monitors. When they I still may stay with dual monitors.
TV isn't the driving force - just doing multiple things at one time get soooo much more done!
I have four 16:9 format 20" Sceptre's turned portrait orientation and sitting side by side making one large desktop.
42" Sytanax LCD by Olivia
It's an HDTV with a computer input (VGA). (Most modern HDTV's have some type of computer input)
Now my computer sits just off to the right of my entertainment center.
I use it for my main TV as well as my computer monitor. It's got a built in HDTV tuner so after I'm done watching CSI in HD and can press a button to switch inputs and I'm on my computer playing WoW or surfing the net. I'm sitting on the couch right now using my wireless keyboard and mouse to type this.
With the resolution of 1360 X 768 Windows Vista looks amazing. And I got this TV/Computer monitor for only $800 the day after thanksgiving from MicroCenter.
How much did you pay for that 20"+ LCD "Computer Monitor" with no TV tuner?
Some people... *LOL*
At my main computer I have 2 x 17" Monitors and 1 x notebook LCD screen. Using Synergy to make use of the notebook screen which is opened right out and placed behind one of the 17" monitors.
This gives me 3 screens to work with.
1 17" is HP1730 and other AOC 17" Both work good for me. Colour quality is reasonable.
I purchased this monitor only yesterday with reward points. Gotta luv it! So far I am absolutely blown away. Of course, it's only day two and there's a lot more to explore.I find it difficult to give it a fair comparison to my old NEC 17". There is no comparison.
I'm using a SONY KDS-70XBR2 and every day I enjoy it more and more. It's FANTASTIC !!!!
Microtek 17" LCD
The Sceptre monitor is fine, nice and clear and huge resolution, but what's really cool is it's "flying" above the desk at the end of a long Ergotron arm, so I can effortlessly move it to any position over the desk, higher or lower, any tilt. At the same time, I have the whole desk free to work on, the monitor has NO footprint, since the Ergotron's support post is at the far edge of the desk.
That's the real value of flat screen, it's light enough so a support arm can handle the weight (12 pounds).
I have a 14 inch and it is a LCD and it is a gateway
I think the model is LCM-17W7. It's white, very attractive, and matches my Mac Mini perfectly. I used it analog for about a year and half, and had no problem, switched to DVI for jollies and noticed no appreciable difference picture-wise; picture is great regardless. I don't think any LCD is as clear as a CRT, but I couldn't see taking up all that room just to websurf and listen to music. It's the first monitor I've ever had to buy, because my first two computers had monitors built-into them. It took a while for me to get used to a wide screen monitor; I think you get cheated a little on screen size. My screen is about the width of a 20" but because it's rectangular instead of square, it measures 17" diagonally. It's plenty big for me, regardless. They tell me I could conceivably attach the monitor to an HDTV receiver/tuner via the DVI plug, so maybe if I go bigger on the computer monitor one day, this one will become my TV! At any rate, I've enjoyed no problems with my monitor after almost two years of use. I would buy Westinghouse again, if I could find an attractive one.
19" and a 710N 17"......and I love them both.

I have a 22" samsung syncmaster 225BW my resolution is 1680x1050 and I really like it but I dont want to spend time watching movies on it. I'm on it enough every day. So I sit in my living room and watch tv on our 32" GE and listen to our RCA surround sound. Lay back and enjoy. It gives me a break from the pc which I enjoy also. Sometimes I really need a break from it the pc.
