XBOX 360 VS PS3 GRAPHICS ?????
by oblig - 3/25/07 5:24 PMI have a xbox 360 but im liking the look of the ps3 all i really do on my consoles is play games and thats it so non of the other stuff like online gaming ect. What i really want to know is which one is beter graphicly ive heard so meny stories of one been better then the other but which one?????//

However the 360 is easier to develop or so so far games ported from the 360 to the PS3 have looked better on the 360 (go to gametrailers.com and check out their PS3 vs. 360 comparisons with Oblivion and Call of Duty 3 there's quite a difference). Once developers get used to the PS3 hardware games will probably look better on the PS3. However cross-platform games will probably look the same on both systems. Think of it in terms of the PS2 and X-Box last generation only this time the Sony has the more powerful console.
That being said you shouldn't base your decision on which has better graphics, you should base it on which system has the most exclusive games you're most interested in.

church is right on just buying the console that has games that you like though. For me I like shooters so I go with the 360. And I don't think I could buy a console that doesn't have the Halo series.

I own a 360 and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything, I don't think that Sony has anything that is competitive with Xbox Live, and the media features built into the 360 for streaming are top notch. I was comparing Resistance: Fall of Man, which was supposed to be one of the premeire titles on the PS3 and I didn't think that it looked as good as Gears of War on Xbox. Sony is going to have to really build up its list of titles before I would plan on switching (especially for $200 more than an xbox)

The 360 has three general-purpose cores, each running at 3.2 GHz. This makes it easier for developers because each core is capable of the same workload. On the PS3, it has one primary core (also 3.2 GHz) surrounded by several special-purpose 'mini-cores,' for lack of a better term. From what I've read, developers have not yet figured out how to best utilize the small cores.
From a real-world standpoint, I'm guessing they'll end up being about the same, but until (or unless) the PS3 has a game with better graphics than Gears of War, I'd say the 360 has the edge at this point. As for Resistance, the so-called 'system-seller' for the PS3, it looks (and plays) like a half-decent PC game from 2004. We should start seeing some nice-looking PS3 games by Christmas, so that will be the true test.

Isnt the 360 graphic card ment to be more powerfull then the ps3?. OR off topic is it just worth making my pc into a gaming machine lol like putting blu ray driver in and graphics ect

Halo 3 comes out in September and will be the most played game that is sold this year I'm willing to bet. Halo 3 is a HUGE reason to buy a 360.
Since graphics will be a wash, as stated before, the real solid deciding factor other than games for each system is the Blu-ray player. If you have to have it, get a PS3...if you want to wait for standalone BR or HD-DVD players, get a 360. But first and foremost, buy a console for the games.

I'm sure eventually PS3 games will look better than GoW, but by the time there is noticable graphics advantages over the 360, MS will be within a year or so of releasing their 3rd generation console.
