I am up for New Every Two with Verizon on Friday and I have read literally hundreds of reviews for each of these phones. I read TOO much...because there are certainly imperfections with every phone, and I magnify these in my mind so I can't decide which to commit to. That is why I need to hear some intelligent advice about which I should get.
Here is what is important to me:
DURABILITY/ BUILD QUALITY- Absolutely most important. I know phones aren't built to be dropped, but I want mine to be able to take some hard hits. My 2-year-old Samsung A670 has been dropped tens of times, and has been submerged...and still works great.
CALL QUALITY- I want to use the phone as a phone...to talk on. It should be able to do this well.
RECEPTION- Goes hand in hand with the previous...I want a phone that I can talk on in the most places.
BATTERY LIFE- It doesn't have to be spectacular, but I REALLY don't want to have to charge mid-day. I talk maybe 2 hours a day and text a lot, so I'll probably put a moderate drain on the battery.
SIZE/COOLNESS- Not tremendously important, but I carry it in my jeans pocket and not look like a fool.
That's it, thanks for any advice you can provide.
Of the three LG phones you mention and from the list of characteristics that are important to you (in the order you mention), I'd rank the phones in this order:
1) VX8300
2) VX9900
3) VX8600
Your priority list didn't mention data capabilities and it looks like you just want a good "phone" for regular "phone" use...making calls. For that purpose, the VX8300 is good plus you get the other camera/music capabilities thrown in.
Also, from the professional reviews, it looks like these phones rank in the order I've listed above. I know you've read all the reviews, but you can see a summary score of all the professional reviews for each phone here:

VX8600 - http://www.productcritic.com/product/122-lg-vx8600
VX9000 - http://www.productcritic.com/product/60-lg-env-vx9900-
thank you, i appreciate the advice...and i think you are right. my good friend john has the 8300 and recommends it highly. it looks like the 8300 is the phone for me.
I have decided on this unit as well. Can't order til next month, but I considered the krzr and the 8600
I kind of like the KRZR but in terms of reviews, it's better than the 8600 but worse than the 9900 and the 8300.
