Vista sucks. Nuff said.
I have had some problems with Vista about 2%, I run a high end PC for gameing, The drivers must be updated from the manufactors web sites, after all this is a New OS so Xp drvers are not going to work, If you bought a New PC with Vista already installed you should be ok, If a program does not want to install, try (running it as administrator and running it under Windows XP compatibilty Mode) to do this just rite click on the install exe or run exe and click properties and you will be given several choices. But Don't exspect to go buy a new Cheverlet and then try to put Ford Parts on it with out a little tweeking, Most Hardware and software Manufact. have most of the drivers updated, some were not ready because Vista kept delaying its release and they didnt want to make drivers that were no good,
If your computer is to fast just load vista. I have a nice xps from Dell. Tops in speed. It was to fast and the Windows XP(sp2)ran like a top. I did not like this at all, so I loaded vista. Now I smile with glee everytime I push the start button. I can pour me a class of pepsi and fix a pop tart, set down and it should be just about started. Oh ya; I never no when it's going to freeze and alot of my programs that were already on my computer are not compatible, now I have everything. Not sure who I should thank, the program vendors or microsoft. I was told to run vista in 64 from one of their tech's, now doesn't that sound like fun.
Approx. 2 years ago, I bought a HP1550 color laserjet printer. HP, in its infinite wisdom has decided NOT to provide Vista drivers for this printer - EVER. I dropped (what to me was) a bunch of change on this thing, and replacing all 4 toner cartridges is almost $400. Yet, they'll keep upgrading the drivers for the HP1100 POS I've had for years that keeps sucking up a ream of paper at a time. Go figure...
I was sad that my Agfa scanner drivers wouldn't work. It's been wonderful. But I wasn't holding my breath as Agfa dropped support in 2001.
So now I'm in the market for a new scanner. Since my laptop's wireless isn't supported by Vista, I'll just leave XP on that and use the HP1550 as its default printer. It's a shame I can't install all of my graphics software on it that I had bought the color laser for to begin with...
