OK, I'm a PC Gamer and was playing Doom in my last year of University. The XBox is fun, but I still find I have much better control on the PC.
This all leads to what Microsoft is doing with their Xbox Live as it is going to let in PC Gamers in May
It's all over the news today:

I actually enjoy console (XBOX) gaming versus PC gaming. I personally feel I have more control over the game this way.
PC for control, customization, hacks and extra content both from game fans and the game maker.
Xbox if you just want to stick the DVD in and play the game without worrying about if your Graphics driver is acting up, your hard drive is full, if the email is going to pop up over your game, if the antivirus system check is going to self start and crash your game.
Oveall I'd say the PC is better, but the Xbox is close to "it just works" and anymore I'm adding more and more value to "it just works".
When I used to play unreal tournament on my Mac, I used the unusual combo of gamepad in my left hand and mouse in my right. this made for console-like ease of movement and mouse-like speed and accuracy in my sniping. UT on the PS2 was majorly sucky.
I do think I would prefer to play Gears of War on my Plasma.
get a mouse n keyboard to work w it!!
I've been playing with programming in XNA, which is microsoft's development kit for the 360 (sort of). Anyway, apparently the 360 does support a USB keyboard and while it doesn't say it supports a mouse some XNA community members said they could use mice just fine too. Maybe someday some games will release that allow the use of keyboard and mouse to control the game, but personally I like to play my Gears of War reclining in a comfey chair, not hunched over my coffee table. However a keyboard would be much better for text input than moving the cursor around the keyboard on screen and typing.
Consoles level the playing field, so no lags, and no blaming it on the CPU, (well still the ISP), but i think you can't beat the control of a mouse.
