Suggestion for a 1/1.8" CCD camera?

by 4honor - 3/11/07 8:49 PM

Hi, I found and was gonna get the Sony W100 for $210, because I am only considering Sony, Canon, or Nikon with a 1/1.8" CCD, but that camera went out of stock, so now I am in the hunt again... :(

Can anyone suggest compact camera that has a 1/1.8" CCD? MP doesn't really matter, since most cameras with that big of a sensor are high MP anyway. Compact meaning like W100, or Canon's SD550, where as Canon's A610/620/630/640 are kinda too big. If the price can be under $250, it's a bonus. Thanks for your help!

The Sony W100 is still available at many stores.

Amazon.com shows it to be in-stock for $270.

You might consider the Fujifilm F20, F30, F31fd or F40fd.

The F20, F30 and F31fd use a larger (physical size) CCD (1/1.7).
The F40fd CCD is even larger (1/1.6).

The Fujifilm cameras are the same physical size as the Sony W100.

Thanks for your help, but I looked into the cameras, and only the F40fd uses SD, the rest use xD, which I don't like. The F40fd is way out of my price range, so unless someone has it for under ~$250, it's a no go... I really appreciate your fast reply though, you rock!
