what are your opinions about these two players?
the d-click vs touchscreen, ease of use, durability, etc.
i'm not sure between these 2
so i'm asking you guys
Oh, and what about that Clix2? just found out about that one today.
Whadda you guys think about it?
I always go for Cowon these days because they consistently produce the best sound. I have my D2 on order,so haven't heard it yet, but I can't wait. They have bumped up theoutput power, so it should drive some big headphones.
Still, go for what you prefer. I have owned a couple of iRivers too (not a Clix), and they are also quality.
I ordered from advancedmp3pleyers.co.uk (I am in the uk).
It was supposed to arrive in stock tomorrow, but has been delayed until Feb 18th. Bit disappointed but it's done now. I have ordered from them twice before and never previously had any problems.
The D2 can take 4Gb, although not all makes. It's worth checking on the forums before you get one. Apparently it is a firmware issue and they will fix this soon (Cowon are generally very good about firmware).
It probably won't support the new SDHC format, even though they are the same size, so 4Gb will be the limit.
"It probably won't support the new SDHC format, even though they are the same size, so 4Gb will be the limit."
A new firmware update has made at least 8gb SDHC cards compatible, but ive heard of 32gb SDHC being used....
Looks like cnet did a Prize fight just for me.
In my opinion though, i'm leaning more toward the clix.
I am a regular viewer of the prize fight but this time they got it wrong.. I really feel that the D2 packs a lot more than the clix.. Its audio output is the best int he market right now, better than the earlier best Creative Zen vision M (With a SNR value of whooping 98).. The touch sensor screen is a big plus and could make a new revolution over the current MP3 Player in the market. The features are even more powerful.. I truly am waiting for my D2 and i think they clearlt overtook the clix...
My D2 arrived yesterday. Love it ![]()
I'm walking round with full sized DJ headphones (AKG K81DJ) and it is driving them no problem. Massive bass, great sound, no hiss. The U3 and X5 are the best players I've heard and this is better.
Wasn't sure if I would like the touch screen, but it works really well. It is great being able to jump straight to the right point in a long podcast or video.
It has dedicated volume buttons, so you can operate it in your pocket.
Love it, love it, love it.
btw, the Clix does not support FLAC.
The D2 out performs the clix on EVERY level. IN fact except for over all storage space the D2 Out performs every IPOD on the market. The D2 is the best on the market right now
um... since my last post, i have been leaning towards the D2...
yeah, i bet i'm still an idiot you punk.
Hey got my D2 on the 21st of Feb and i love it.. Somply awesome..My reviewon Cnet.. Do read, its all you need to know..

Thanks. The review was great. I'm going to get this player as soon as i can.
Thanks, and good luck with your new player..
... or perhaps a Cowon shill would hype up the D2 like that.
I like the D2 to a certain extent. Very long battery life, expandability, lossless support which is made practical with the long battery life, The self databasing facility in the latest firmware is very handy. The battery life does make the player fairly titanic for a 4Gb machine - but it does still fit in your palm.
I'm in a mixed mood about the touchscreen. It actually slows down your navigation compared to almost every other player with decent controls, but it doesn't feel too bad in actual use.
The basic sound is OK. Nothing special. A 'big' iPod (or Creative, Sony, yada yada) can beat it and a Nano can also slightly trump it in terms of fidelity if you take EQ's and FX out of the equation. And in terms of FX's and EQ's, there are some complaints out there that it's not as well implemented (if you could call the sound quality degrading Jeteffects 'well implemented') as previous Cowon players. I don't use Jeteffects much, so I can't say a lot about that yet.
Personally as far as navigation is concerned I preferred the Clix, and I think the iRiver is better / more slickly designed overall and is more usable. I expect this to continue with the Clix 2.
The D2 has plenty of nerd/geek appeal, but the Clix 2 looks to be better for the smarter not-quite-rabid-geek looking for an alternative to the Nano.
