by tjtomthumb - 3/9/07 3:21 AM In reply to: recommend a good free VOIP service by aloeverawang

I have recently found PhoneGnome and like it real well. If a contact registers their phone number in a covered area, you can call phone - to - phone free. I use the web activated version.

Re: voip service

This is for all ppl interested in voip services and for the longest time I am using tringotel VoIP service because they are so much cheaper than any other service, and the shipping charges are absolutely free and it is easy to configure the settings and I guess tringotel have merged with Sunrocket.

Try Jajah

by llucyy - 3/9/07 6:03 AM In reply to: recommend a good free VOIP service by aloeverawang

I use Jajah, can call most phones for a small fee but free between registered members, no charge for registering, just have to pre-pay $5 or $10 if you want to make paid calls.- "fair use" conditions apply. ie users must have made a paid call within the previous 2 weeks to get free calls. Works with dial-up as well as broadband. On dial up you have to log a deferred call for anytime when you're not online so call can come through. but remember to uncheck the" send me a SMS reminder" box, otherwise you will incur a fee for that. Can also download a program for certain Symbian phones to allow VOIP calls to be made direct from them without a PC, but those calls have a small fee.

Skype is the best in my opinion

by traveler273 - 3/9/07 8:29 AM In reply to: recommend a good free VOIP service by aloeverawang

I am currently using Skype and have to say I love it. For a very small fee, about 30$(I paid only 15$ with their special discount, not availbale any longer, I think)you can call all phones in Canada and US for a whole year (little over 2$ a month). Plus their long distance rates are unbeatable (2cents/minute to lots of countries). If you are calling someone who has Skype, then it is free of course. So far I have not found anything better.
You can connect your regular phone via a special modem or get a VOIP phone attached directly to your computer, if you prefer. Skype is a free software with lots of features, you can dowload it at www.skype.com
