any advice?
o im a high school soph, and i will take this laptop to college
thanks!
I do not recommend laptops for college underclassman because they manage to lose or break their laptops. I preferred not using a laptop during my undergraduate degree because pencil and paper have some advantages. If you really want a laptop though, I recommend the cheaper HP product. Sorry, but college underclassman have a reputation of partying too hard to ruining expensive Dell or Apple laptops.
Hey, I'm a high school sophomore too. I recently got a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and have not broken or lost it yet. I upgraded to Vista when it came out and it is definitely very stable, much more so than XP ever was. Anyway, it's really your choice. They are both nice computers, but if you game you'll get the best bang for your buck with the HP (MacBooks have integrated graphics). Then again MacBooks are easy to use. I think it really comes down to what you're going to do with your computer. Just remember if you game, or use programs where compatibility will be an issue with a mac, get the HP. Good luck and have fun with your new notebook.
The thinkpad's a good option, but then again any laptop is with insurance! Look at the insurance price and choose around that if you're taking it to college, personally I'd go for the apple (which infact I am doing)!
This is one of the few large companies that does not offer accidental coverage. I will probably need that coverage when I do something really stupid. Then again, I might buy the ASUS A8JS. This does not have any accidental coverage either. I will have to be more careful when I drop it
.
i'm a junior in highschool and i own the hp dv2000t. Im on the debate team and i travel across the country on buses or planes, and this machine is a beast as far as build quality is concerned. literally no part of the computer bends when you put heavy pressure on it, and the screen wont ripple when you press in the back. Im pretty sure it'll last you quite a while. As for vista, i only run xp, but my friend runs vista (on a compaq, humorously enough) and it operates just fine. Now, if you were to configure the hp for the price of a macbook, the system would be pretty much decked out. Also, just a suggestion, if hardcore gaming isnt a concern, i suggest checking out the compaqs, which are essentially hp's with a different color. The only real difference is that 14.1" compaqs arent configurable with discrete graphics (in the intel models).
im not a gamer
so ya...
thank you
macs are easier to work with and less seems to go wrong with them?!?!
check out this one, looks good for school!
