iPod shuffle compatible with music subscriptions?

by Groovydude - 3/5/07 3:02 PM

Are iPod shuffles compatible with any music subscription services?

With a big enough hammer.

And your collection of hammers vary with each sub.

Let me answer it another way. Without knowing which sub, I'd have to write no. But for those that can think of workarounds, there is a way.

eMusic and Audio Lunchbox

They are compatible with everything that plays mp3s, including all iPods. Howver, they are not traditional subscription services (the all you can download variety). Your monthly subscription price determines the number of downloads you get, but once you download them, they are yours to keep even if you stop the subscription. One caveat is that both of these services tend to skew toward independent labels and artists, those not afraid to go without DRM.
