Im about an hour away from you. Man, the 101 freeway that you live by is just retarded man. Anyways, what exactly are you looking to upgrade at the moment? Im looking at the whole kit 'n' kaboodle. The whole enchilada. The whole... uhh.....

What kind of electronics do you run? Since browsing TAS on Bill's tip, and seeing that NAD was recommended for value in the most expensive ($6.5k) of the suggested budget systems, I found these sites. Seems to be decent deals on new and refurbished. 2k gets me separate processor and beefy modular 7.1 amp. Emailed them to see what kind of warranty is offered on refurbished.

Lets help each other out, eh? I think I found a potential store #5 that carries mostly PSB. I hope they carry other brands.

i'm done for now

by adamanteus - 2/26/07 5:38 PM In reply to: adamanteus by jostenmeat

for now my upgrading is done for awhile. i have a modest setup of the missions and a pioneer elite receiver. i have a bronco i'm restoring that takes a ton of my funds. but i upgraded my display (LCD), speakers and receiver and i picked up an onix x-sub and will be picking up one more x-sub from av123 in a couple weeks. for now, that will be it.

this winter i will probably upgrade to a larger display and put this one i just got in the bedroom. it's smaller a 32' but we have a real small area here in this house. i'd like to pick up some mission elegantes- they are fairly expensive- this winter too and maybe move my current missions into the computer room and use them for audio. dont really need to but, want to.

then again- i'm at the engine and transmission stage on the bronco- after just doing $4K worth of suspension work- then it's time for paint. if i can get close to the paint this winter i will probably just finish the bronco off. and maybe upgrade the display if the prices are right.

Speakers?

by lawlorg - 2/26/07 6:26 AM In reply to: Which speakers to get? by DscottM83

Do yourself a favor and at least check out the reviews for the Athena line of speakers. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. There is not much on Cnet for Athena but if you look you'll find reviews. Good luck!

um

reviews are nice and all, but I have to listen to them. I listen to almost every speaker I run into, so when I see Athena, you can be assured. Is there ever a "bad" review? If I went only on reviews I might go Onix, but see, I have a feeling that I may hate Vifa concentric ring tweeters on other speakers, but I cant say till Ive heard this particular brand.

Looks like the website I posted offers 1yr warranty on refurbished products.

Found an audiogon listing for Vantages, cherry wood, at 3.6k, but no response yet.

Thanks for the rec. jostenmeat

EDIT- not sure why this is a double post weird. anyhow while it is you MAY TRY ONIX from av123 they offer a 30 day guarantee and free reutrn shipping i believe. they have great customer service too. unbelievable service. the owner was actually in town a few weeks ago and wanted to get together but my work schedule wouldn't allow it.

Is your truck one of those Godzilla sized ones with the removable top?
They look like fun.

Ya onix returns bookshelves for free in the US. Not floorstanders and also not for out of country. Mark wanted to meet with you? Thats his name right? maybe I forget. You just have one x-series sub of his and he wanted to meet You? neat.

Ive been eyeing those UFW subs, perhaps a 12". I love Rel for music, hear svs rocks for HT, perhaps this would be a good compromise. I think they are sealed (?) Im gonna google elegantes now :) 'till the next time...

yep godzilla

by adamanteus - 2/28/07 9:08 AM In reply to: adam by jostenmeat

yeah it's semi godzilla-ish 6" lift w/ mickey thompson tires and a removable top. lots of fun.

yes mark is the owner- great guy. i will be adding another x-sub in the next few weeks to round out the bottom end a bit. other than that i'm done for the time being. but, really, with my missions, elite and x-sub(s) i have no holes uncovered. i am totally satisfied. i really only would like some of the newer missions that tsto has just gotten in (elegantes) because they are pretty high end. so i can only imagine if the modest line i have now are so nice, how great the elegantes must be.

but for now, i have the truck to finish and we are hoping to buy a home before we get too old. :)

Starts with products from Harman International

by borispmchan - 3/2/07 8:55 PM In reply to: Which speakers to get? by DscottM83

The products from Harman International are great for its price.
You can try JBL, Infinity and Harman/Kardon.
They are not overpriced like Bose.

"HARMAN KARDON" BRAND NAME for home use???
I would think for automotive purposes, maybe. I'll check it out! You'd think that JBL and INFINITY would cover most folks needs.

thanx, river.
