I see that there is a japanese company named Pixela (www.pixela.co.jp) that sells a firewire (i.link) to USB conversion cable. That way if your computer doesn't have a firewire port you can use the USB port as an input. Well, I have the Sony HC-38 Handycam which I love. Sony always tries to pump up I.Link and pretend that usb doesn't even exist. On my HC-38 however, I have a Mini USB port,(like a blackberry cable). As I don't have an I.Link port on my computer, is there any advantage to buying the cable from pixela? Should I just be content to use the USB mini to USB port that I already have for transferring video to my computer? I'm not sure if I'm expperiencing any degradation in the quality by doing that.
Thanks for your input.
Pixela?
Adding a FireWire card is typically fairly easy to do and can be pretty cheap...
Most people on this forums who have tried to transfer video using their USB ports are not able to do so - and are successful after adding a FireWire port to their pc and using FireWire to transfer video.
If you are happy with the method you currently use, why change?
