Locked Cingular phone will not work on Verizon). If the phone is unlocked (usually done through firmware hack) the phone will work with any service provider supported by the phones carrier signal (ie. GSM 850/900). Note that some locked SIM phones may work on other networks.
Watch out for phones originally from Europe because their carrier may not be supported in North America.
