Personally, I say yes it is.

From the hardware that it provides definitely. But it is up to you if you are willing to "shell" out that kind of money if you're purpose is gaming.

But it comes with all the gizmos, gadjets, and gimmicks.

If you add it all up then it is, but from a gamer's point of view then its questionable. It's really up to what you prefer and decide.

i have both, and i have to say, I love the 360. It has A LOT more games than ps3, and the games are cheaper. Right now, the graphics are about the same. The only way that the ps3 would be a better value now is if you wanted to use it as a blu-ray player, in that case, it is a good buy. Now, in the near future, when sony starts getting some games out, it might be close, but for now, i think 360 is a better value.

I think the PS3 is worth the money--especially if you also want to watch movies--the Blue-Ray feature and other multi-media aspects are great--and you know great games will be forth coming. If you buy the add-on HD_DVD player for the xbox 360--the price is about the same!I've had the PS3 for these past few months and have NO regrets...
Enjoy!

I took our churchs' ps3 home to update the system and install some demos. After about 3 days i was pretty impressed, except for the lame controller, and the performance. With the floating point speed at twice the speed of the 360, i expected crazy awsome load speeds, but no, it takes forever to load all the demos, and it actually took longer to load battlefront 2 than the ps2 does. The controller is okay, but the l2 and r2 are really anoying (they tried to mimic the 360's equivalent, but failed miserably). A couple things i was impressed with was the interface, it was really easy, and cool. The games themselves looked great. So for now, skip the ps3 and wait a while till it becomes cheaper and they fix the controller.
