Does the chocolate phone Verizon sells come with the speakerphone now or do I have to go online to download it. This is the version that Verizon sells right, I can't figure out because Verizon doesn't offer version numbers on their website. And as for music files, I use Limewire for my mp3's and I was wondering if I would have any problems transfering my music files, I have to buy the cd to do this correct.
I beleave on the new lg vx8500 (chocolate) has the speeker phone's built into then now.....
Yes, it has a speakerphone feature. It can be activated by pressing the camera button on the side during a call. If you want to put music files on the phone buy a micro SD card - it will support up to the 2GB. Don't waste your time with the "music essentials" kit. The headphones are lousy. Get yourself a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm stereo headphone plug adapter from Radio Shack and you can use any headphones you like. If you want to spend more you can get yourself a stereo Bluetooth headset.
If I don't but the essentials kit then how will I get some music on the card?
When you buy a Micro SD card it usually comes with an adapter that is essentially a regular size SD card. The Micro SD card slides into a slot in the end of it. If you have one of those multiple card readers on your computer (either built in or a USB external) you pop it in and it shows up as a drive in My Comp. Then you can copy your song files to the proper directory on the Micro SD. I have the VX8500 and this works quite well. I just popped a 2 GB Micro SD card into the slot on the phone and the phone formatted and put the proper directory structure on it. You have to put the song files in the "My_Music" folder for the phone to see them. Also I think anything over 192 bit rate won't work on the Chocolate. You have the option to move files between the phone memory and the card memory and back if you want. This goes for pix as well. One note of caution - if you want to use your own pix for wallpaper, make sure the file you are using is in the phone's memory not on the card. If it's on the card your battery life is drastically reduced by the phone constantly reading the Micro SD to display the picture. Hope this helps. I've only had my phone for a little over a week and I have most of the stuff worked out I think. It's a good phone. I got the Adata 2GB Micro SD from newegg.com for 60 bucks + 5 bucks for shipping and I had it in 2 days.
Thanks man that answered a lot of my questions. I don't know if you can answer this or not but right now I have a 500 minute family share plan and my 2 year contract has ended so thats the reason I'm buying this phone. Whenever I purchase the phone, will they still charge me for 500 minutes or will they up my minutes to 700 because when you look at the Verizon shareplans the lowest minutes they have is 700. I don't want to pay the extra $10 so I'm hoping they will let me keep my 500 minutes.
No Prob! Sorry, I can't help you on the question on your plan, but if you have already let the plan you were on expire they probably will make you go for the 700 minute plan at the higher rate. But they may cut you a deal. Most of the time they will bend to keep you as a customer.
BTW, I haven't found a way to transfer files back and forth using Bluetooth yet. The Bluetooth on this phone apparently doesn't support that. The only thing it seems to do is transfer a vCard file (contact file, one contact at a time, not the whole address book.) I did spring for that music kit which comes w/ a proprietary USB cable that fits the connector on the phone. Like I said the headphones kinda suck. But using that cable and an open source program called BitPim (Google for it) it's possible to transfer address books, picture files and mp3s to and from the phone. Also, "Get it Now" has a little utility that allows you to manage your contact list online and blow changes to and from your phone. It's free to download and free to use if you already manage your Verizon account online. It's pretty slick I might add. It's called "Backup Assistant"
The headphones that come with it how do they work? Plug into the charger area on the side? Are they the big type earpieces? As for the plan I'm going to go in and hope I can keep my 500 minute plan, if not I get like a 21% discount from General Motors for being an employee. If I get the phone I'll probably just invest in 2 of the A-Data 1 GB sticks that cost 13 bucks compared to the 2 gb that costs $50 for some reason.
Yes the headphones have that funky connector on the end that plugs in where the charger goes (same for the USB cable) I don't like them because they're buds like the iPod headphones and they won't stay in my ear. I've got some $30 Sony in the ear ones that I like. The phone comes with an adapter that plugs in there too and outputs to a 2.5 mm jack. Of course, just about every headphone available has a 3.5 mm plug! That's why you need to get yet another adapter at Radio Shack
. Damn phones nickel & dime you to death. At least the phone itself was free (New Every Two)!
As for copying files onto the MicroSD card will this product enable me to transfer my files seeing as that I don't have an SD card slot in my pc.

As for transfering files directly to the phone, does it use the usb 2.0 cord?
That should work. I just don't have any experience w/ one of those types; I have an internal one (but your motherboard has to have the connectors on it to use one of those). I'm pretty sure the cable is USB 2.0 but not absolutely. I'd have to plug it in a comp. that I know only has USB 1.1 and wait for Windows to bug me about "This device could perform faster if you plug it in a USB 2.0 port!"
Yeah I just bought the new phone and I have a question, I read that when the music is playing you can go to a screen that shows bars moving up and down to the music like on windows media player and I cant figure out how to get to it so I need help
So I'm going to be purchasing my Lg Choco later on in the week, the black one. Anyway, along with the phone I'm thinking about purchasing these accessories. Tell me your thoughts on these purchases:
Extra Battery: Retail ($30) My Price ($8.50)

Two ADATA 1 GB Micro SD Sticks: ($13 each, $26 total)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211042
So I'll get an extra battery, two 1 gb sd sticks whichll cost me $34.50 + shipping.
In addition to this I need some sort of Micro SD / USB adapter in order to get my files onto the micro sd since my pc doesn't have any sd ports. Could somone reccommend me an adapter that I could use to read and write. And when I do get the phone does it come with some sort of case? Should I be looking into purchasing a case for the phone?
I dont know about the other stuff but most deffently buy a case that protects the screen be cause i have only had mine for like a week and a half and the screen is already scrached by it slipping out of my hand and stuff so yes buy a case for it I should of...
