by 34skyline - 1/20/07 12:13 PM

I have a question to ask all of you, My friend at work says he has Vista 002 and he told me that it's not the Beta version either, He said he has some serious contacts in the geek underworld, he also said that he can automatically downloads drivers for his hardware and updates to fix the bugs on Vista, this is what he said in his e-mail that he sent me and I quote " This is no beta, i just updated it and il crack the registartion tomorow w the code my guy sent me.

if you dont beleive me that my copy is the real deal, check out this screenshot called

"i have vista 002"

So you guys is Vista 002 is the Final version of Vista or it just a beta version of Vista. do you think I should wait and get a legit copy of Vista and wait until January 30, 2007 and get my Microsoft Vista Ultimate.

Vista final release is available right now to volume license businesses. It's also available to some MSDN subscribers. You'll still need to wait until the end of the month.

Several things...

1.) As hickman said, Vista is mainly available to volume licensing customers at this time, so you'll have to wait until it is officially released on the 30th.

2.) 002 could refer to many things, be it Beta 2, RC2 (Release Candidates come after 'traditional betas' but before the product is 'finished'), or the last three digits of the build number. You'd have to ask him to clarify what he meant. "RTM" (Released to Manufacturing) is what you would usually write to indicate you have the 'final version.'

3.) Vista is designed to automatically find and download Vista drivers, so that's nothing new.

4.) You didn't include the hyperlink to the screenshot, so we cannot view what you meant for us to see.

5.) Given the statement "This is no beta, i just updated it and il crack the registartion tomorow w the code my guy sent me." it sounds like he is speaking of a pirated/illegal copy which he is obtaining from a friend. However, I may be wrong so I'd ask him to clarify that as well.

John
