.MOV -> .MPEG conversion program...

by dhaskell - 1/10/07 8:03 AM

I need a decent program to convert a music video from MOV to MPEG, or any file format really (WMV, AVI). Any recommendations? Freeware would be preferable.

Apple's Quictime "Pro"

Not free, but for $30 it's very powerful. Allows conversion of videos to iPods, audio extraction and format conversions.

Unfortunately...

this yields dozens of results, not all of which work or have up to date compatibility. Wondering if anyone has any experience with anything...

I actually have quicktime-pro... forgot about it entirely! it may work for an avi but it has no mpeg/wmv format.

Also, try MPEG Streamclip

MPEG Streamclip requires QT Pro to work, but the program itself is free. It's a marvelous program that converts many file formats. I primarily use it to extract audio from my digital still camera's mpeg movies for iMovie editing, but I know it converts and handles many different mpeg, mov, avi, wmv formats too.

What I use is VLCPLAYER.

This is not an offer to teach how to use it but just to note that it does work for me.

Same Problem

by Pakman3000 - 1/10/07 10:43 AM In reply to: .MOV -> .MPEG conversion program... by dhaskell

I also need a program to convert the 1080p trailers from Apple into a 360/media center friendly format for streaming.
