Hi, thanks for your post about transfering mp3's. I got it to work just fine. Now another question. An adapter for earphones comes with the KRZR, but the hole is too small for all of my earphones. I have several to use with my ipod. Did you have that problem and what is the solution....sounds like you are doing great with yours. I can listen on the speaker phone only at this time. thanks for any help
I got a new 2GB mini sd card, I was trying to get my phone connected to the computer and everytime that I plug my cellphone and the computer, my cellphone shows on the screen this message "connected to the USB drive: file on the memory card are not available now", and when I open media player 11 , it tells me that it needs to be connected to the divice, so for some reason it does not recognize it.
When I open MY COMPUTER I dont see the icon G, but before I put the mini SD card into the phone I used to see the icon G and when clik on it, it asks me to insert the disk. What can I do?
Tried this on my spring KRZR with no luck. It can't detect any of my music in the my-music folder.
i have m-card and reader. i formated it, and connected to the computer. the files that came up were motorola and mobile. now how do i get music on there. i already have a music file under my computer. i am also very bad with computers, and need very simple instructions. dragging and coping folders is not something i know how to do very well.
i have the sd card and i put all my music on it but my moto Krzr still wont play the songs. it reconizes the sd card because i go to memory card and it tells me how much memory i have. are the music files supposd to be in a specific file type?
THe music has to be in the "My_Music" folder and without subfolders, files only. I used Windows Media Player to add music to my SD Card. I then had to import the music into RealPlayer and change file name to the "My_Music" folder for it to be recognized. I'm going to try dragging music from Itunes to windows explorer SD next.
first off mp3 is an audio file [not image], i would be amazed if you used a WMA convert program to turn a JPEG into a mp3 and actually make your phone display it as an image.
SECOND and my main point. I have installed WMP (windows media player) 11, then uninstalled, installed WMP 10, and I still can not get the sync to reconize my phone. also, someone mentioned a patch from verizon and provided a link. this link only led me to an unhelpfull FAQ that basicly expected the sync to work already(i expect the patch was there at some point but verizon changed there site content)...
in any case, if/when i figure this out i will post my findings...
im trying to do the same download some music to my new phone! tryed sending the file using my bluetooth capabilities from my pc, even from another cellphone, and it wont let me trasnfer the songs, even convert the files from mp3, since with the vcast it wont read the mp3 anymore to wma, and no luck! im gonna get a usb cable to trasnfer my songs using windows media player. if anyone done this, can u use this song as ringstone in this new phone or not? i download to my phone a song to use as a ringtone but i dnt know how or if u can use it at all, since the phone dnt give me any option to do this. the only option that i have if to buy ringtones from conpanies already loaded on my phone, thats not fair. do i have any other options?
Did you read what was said above you? It clearly states you dont need a usb cable and that it all has to do with the microsd card and the adapter. If your computer doesnt have a slot where the adaptar goes you can buy a mobilemate sd+reader at best buy. Another suggestion is spell checker. By using this or by rereading what you write.
OK. I have no problem using my KRZR's card to load MP3 music files from my computer. And in the phone's media player, I can play the files. No problem.
What I can't seem to do (and want to very badly) is assign the music files as ringtones to my contacts. Is there another folder on the card that I have to copy to? I know that people with RZR phones had the software included with the phone which they installed into their computers and transfered via USB cable.
I appreciate any info on this subject. Thanks.
I've been trying to do the same for the ringtones, no solution yet though. It may be that the phone keeps the tones on its own memory to prevent what were're trying to do - verizon is probably pretty fond of getting a buck for each ringtone that doesn't suck. It's a pity that they try so hard to restrict the use of the device, but the educated consumer shall yet prevail! As soon as I figure anything out, I'll be sure to share.
Cheers
Hi,
I've been able to transfer MP3s directly onto the card and have the phone recognize them, but I haven't been able to set them as a Ringtone. I tried creating a my_ringtones folder on the card, but that didn't work. Have you made any progress? Thanks.
Andrew
Ok, the card you are talking about, did you buy this serparately? is this the card everyone's talking about on the first page, where people have said you can buy it for $15 at best buy, or is it something different? I probably seem really stupid, but I want music on my phone and I don't know how to do it. I have Windows Media Player already, but I think I just need the USB cord to upload songs onto my phone. Since you said you have no problem getting mp3s on your phone, I figured you definitely knew what you were doing, so I'm asking you. Thanks so much. :]
The card doesn't come with the phone, as you guessed. It's a MicroSD card that goes into a slot behind the battery cover, just beneath the battery itself.
The cards are somewhat common, you should be able to pick one up at about any major electronics store or a superstore like Target - expect prices to be lower online though. Cost will vary depending on how much storage space you want (I believe to maximum the phone can read is 1GB, but it may be greater, I'm unsure on this - up to 1GB is fine though).
The $15 device mentioned above is an approximate price for a card reader, used to connect the card directly to the computer (no phone involved). The software that Verizon has installed on the phone doesn't allow it to communicate directly with a computer through USB or Bluetooth for music transfer. Therefore, the data must be put onto the card and then the card into the phone. Some computers and printers have SD card readers built into them; most don't. If you don't have one, you'll need to pick one up. Again, shouldn't be too hard to find - Best Buy or the like will no doubt have them.
Once you have everything, you need to put the card into the phone and let the phone format it. After that, remove the card and put it in the computer. You'll need to make a new folder on the card titled "my_music" (no quotes). You can then drag/drop your music to the card. After that, go ahead and put the card back in the phone. The next time you access the music player it will register all your music to the phone automatically, then you're good to go.
Just one caveat, the phone won't register songs with titles that are either too long (not sure of the character limit, anyone know?) or that have nonstandard characters. Keep the titles simple and you're fine.
Good luck to you, let me know if I need to clarify anything or if you have any questions. Peace out
Thanks so much, I really appretiate it. ![]()
