that in '07 (or later for that matter) time travel isn't achieved, enabling someone to go back and enter historical events as 'predictions', thus blowing the curve for the rest of us?
I have a single prediction (or is it just future history?) ...Maddog's machiavellian intentions toward the Disney empire finally play out and he becomes Walt2.0. Disneyland/world become iLand/World, Tomorrowland becomes beta-land, Fantasyland becomes blogosphereland, and the pirates of the caribbean ride becomes 'destination Redmond'. ![]()
Oh, and the mouse is retroactively renamed Mac-y.
Veronica's prediction had to do with a 1GB nano and mini-nano integeration. Tom said that she was half right because of the the mini-nano, but said the 1GB was wrong. A 1GB iPod nano did come out in March($149), I think. However, when the 2G nano's were announced the 1GB was dropped from the line-up. So, Veronica was right about both of them.
Well, hello there. This is nto a reply to the last post, i just pressed reply cuz I wanted to write stuff. Booya.
I have read all of your replies, and cant say I agree with many of you ppl out there in cyberland. Here are my predic-ciones for the year of 07 (and some for 08).
1. XBOX 360 and Wii will have almost equal market share by end of 07. XBOX will continue to sell like hotcakes due to availibility, amazing online features, and stealing away all of PS3s exclusive. The wii will continue to sell like crazy, and NINTENDO will announce that their internet gaming does not need friend codes, so it will be easier to access by all.
2. PS3 wont bust, but it will get DAMN close. Sales will be extremely mediocre, and give Sony an excuse to not pull the plug(PS3 will die by 2008, or release a redesigned version for half the price).
3. Apple will have 12 percent of the marketshare by end of 07. I dont think everyone will start buying macs, but there will be a steady increase. (2008 is Apples year)
a) Apple Phone will be a success, but will not dominate the market like Ipod. It will feature video mail and video phone technology though.
b) Apple ITV will be released with harddrive in 100 and 250 GB models and will be able to work WITH TiVo, but it will not have TiVo integrated inside of it.
c) Apple
4. The Venice Project will be the next big thing, and ultimately kick YouTubes ASS, it will also change the way we look at internet tv.
5. Blu-Ray and HDDVD die a horrible death by end of 07, but wonderful for everyone else. I agree with most ppl, these two formats were dead from the start. By the end of 07, we will see the dawn of more players like ITV. Downloading HD content will be the norm, and we will see more and more stores featuring in-store downloads via store-exclusive usb flashdrives(if not this, ppl will at least need to set up an account online to be able to download content from store)
6. DRM will not die, but, like the PS3, it will get damn close! Ah yes, 2007 will see the slow death of DRM. It wont be quick, and I dont think Itunes will jump on the bandwagon of DRM Free goodness just yet. But, certain programs/websites will feature DRM-Free content, which brings me to my next prediction.
7. BitTorrent will become mega popular, Amazon will gain a legimate amount of marketshare in the digital download war, and thus quickly slow down piracy. Both will feature DRM Free content, and by 2008 (you heard it here first) Itunes will go DRM Free. If it doesnt, it will lose popularity (im talking huge). Piracy (in the downloading world) will slow down by alot, just cuz.
8. Vista will be succesful. It wont be a knockout, it wont be like Win 95. And ppl wont be running to get one.
9. Wireless connectivity will be everywhere. HOT Spots are a thing of the past.
10. LCDs will be the HDTV winner...for now. Plasmas will die. DLP's will stay. SED's will conquer in 08.
11. In order to stay competetive, Comcast will sign a major deal to provide cable/ many streaming channels to cell phone carriers. Mobile Television will see a major revolution.
12. Computers with no hardrives. Yep, you heard it. If not in 07, definately 08. Online security will get stronger, and ppl will have one large hardrive at home (im talkin terabites), and access all information over the web through a secured network.
13. This one kinda goes with the last one, but opposite. TV's will start featuring large harddrives, and companies like Comcast will start selling movies to download straight to the TV, bypassing the computer altogether.
14. Obama will announce he is running for president. He will be the pres in 08.
Now for one major prediction for the next 3 years.
Internet phones or satellite phones will take over cellphones, and cellphones will be dead by '10.
Well, thats it for right now. If I think of anymore, I will be sure to write it later.
1. iPod with wireless networking. During MacWorld 2007, Steve will announce the 6G iPod and explain a little bit more about iTV, then as a big surprise say that you can stream and/or plug in your iPod to the iTV. Nano will get a 10GB sibling for $274.
2. Along that note, iTV will be introduced along with a tivo like interface and with a hard drive.
3. iPod line up will include:
-1GB shuffle
-2/4/8/10GB Nano (10GB $274)
4. PS3 sales will remain stable. They will not soar, or bust. Wii will see a small, but steady growth. XBOX 360 will slightly
-30GB iPod
-80/100GB iPod Video
decline in market share, but will still remain on top.
5. Microsoft Zune will bust and iPod sales will soar to record heights
6. Blu-ray will will HD war.
7. Google will introduct a free w/ ads phone that operates on their own network which will run off of Cingular & T-Mobile.
