First, when it comes to Microsoft Office 2003 try running the free program Magical jellybean Keyfinder to see if by chance your Product Key (the 'numbers' you lost that are needed to install the software) are still stored on your computer. If not and you don't have the key written down somewhere then you are pretty much out of luck. If it came with the computer you could contect HP, but otherwise you are left with two options:
1.) Purchase Office 2003 (or now the new MS Office 2007) again.
2.) Use the free alternative OpenOffice.
When it comes to the RAM issue, first right-click My Computer and select Properties, telling us how much RAM is detected. A fair amount is most likely being used for your integrated graphics. After that click here for information regarding disabling unwanted programs that may be taking up considerable RAM.
Good luck.

P.S. Please avoid typing in all caps...it makes it hard to read and is considered shouting online.
You have not mentioned it, but if the Tech Rep did not format the HD for a reinstall of the OS, System Restore should be able to roll back to before the time when you bought the computer to him. You then can get your original Office 3 back. You can then use a free program, e.g. Belarc Advisor to retrieve your numbers and lots of other information about your computer for safe keeping.
Have you gone back to the Tech Rep to seek help ? A good maintenance centre should have backed up your HD - i.e. "ghost" the system as a precaution against untoward incidents like yours.
both have good advice...BUT... as far as I'm concerned, this is a Staples problem. Tell them what the tech did (i.e. pirate installs). It's up to them to return your system to what you had on it. If they can't get Office up then THEY buy you a new Office. And anything else you had on the system that no longer exists. It's stupid stuff like this that really upsets me to no end!! And stay away from those types of shops (Staples, OfficeMax, Office Depot, Circuit City etc, etc). Tell Staples, I'm serious. This guy has put Staples at risk because of his bad decisions. I see a new job on the horizon for this guy. Let us know OK?
and life goes on...
