Which camera should I get for my mother for Christmas .

by missie2 - 12/7/06 9:44 PM

Hi,

I would like to get my mother a digital camera for Christmas. This will be her first digital camera and I saw a demo, on tv with the Kodak C743 and thought that is perfect, not to big not to small and a 2.4 screen, but everyone I talked to at work said oh, don't get a Kodak, any thoughts or anyone with one that can help me decide.
Thank you

You want an easy to use camera and Kodak is the king of that department.

I bought my wife a Kodak with an easyshare printer docking station. She can print anything she wants (4x6) and never has to connect or deal with a computer. So if you are dealing with a computer-illiterate, I would look for a similar solution. I think there are other printer docking solutions out there.

Many photo takers will be very content to be able to print as many photos as they want and then when their memory cards are full to delete some of the photos (or get a new card). Not everyone is into modifying the photograph and enlargements, etc.

Personally I like to be more creative, but when finding any solution, solve the problem you have rather than making it more difficult.

It's agreat camera fora beginner, who may need more later. The printer docks are handy and easy to use.
I bought a Kodak for my daughter last xmas and she still loves it.
The size is just right and has the look and feel of non digital cameras.

Some people think Kodak cameras are inferior. I don't think so especially after using a DX6340 for 3 years. It's been reliable, easy to use and takes very good pictures. Kodak have decades of experience in sophisticated imaging not "just" the film products that are mostly obsolete now.
