Ringtones by taking pictures

by nworkentine - 12/9/06 12:22 PM

OK, I heard about this new free "service" on getting ringtones. All you have to do is download a free program to your cell phone, and get special pictures from the internet and take a picture of them will your cell. The pictures have a code in them that the program that you downloaded to your cell can decipher and gives you free games, ringtones, wallpapers etc... Has anyone heard about this and know if it's true or not?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code

I read something about this in lifehacker. There is even a U.S. website you can go to & put in your information (email/url/text info) and it will spit out a code for you to use on a t-shirt/poster/business card or whatever.

If I can find the lifehacker link about it, I'll post it. Meanwhile read up on the wiki link above.

http://www.lifehacker.com/software/urls/create-and-decode-url-barcodes-with-smartpox-200263.php

That should be the direct link to the article lifehacker had on it. If it doesn't work, then go to lifehacker.com & search for "smartpox".
