World News Tonight has just started and I am sad to say James will not be the Person of the week. On the openning they showed a solider from Iraq. I am not saying the solider does not deserve this honor I was just hopeing we could get James on as Person of the week. I do not know if he can still be considered over the next few weeks so I think we sould continue to send in request and maybe James's girls can still get a wonderful holiday gift a chance to see the effect their dad had on some many people's lives. I still have hope ..

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way but I have to support the Soldier in Iraq. I find it sad that Soldiers are dying every day over there and all it gets is a passing mention on CNN or the last few minutes of a news broadcast. All of these Soldiers have families too and they are just as heartbroken, trust me, I know. It was only a few weeks ago when I had to drive a couple of hours to inform a mother that her young son had been killed by an IED. It tore me up inside to have to be the one to tell her yet I was proud and honored to do it so I could make sure that Soldier got the respect he deserved. So I agree that James Kim's death is a great tragedy and he is a hero, but he's not the only one.
I agree. I sent a request to ABC this evening, and I hope that others will do the same.
I wrote a heartfelt email to ABC News to nominate James.
Once again, my condolences to each and every one of his family and friends... and to the broken hearted rescuers too.
I want you who lived and worked with James to know that this story really sincerely broke our hearts up here in the Northwest. He was a beautiful person.
I have to go again... everytime I go to CNET now I cry. But it won't run me away I love CNET.

The thing that matters most is the thought. He's my person of the MONTH! He and his family are in my hearts, whether ABC decides to broadcast a 60 second snip it or not!
We love you James and the Kim Family!
The greatest respect to a very brave man.
I read his story and it brought tears to my eyes he will be sadly missed by his family and friends words could never be enough I am sure.
My condolences to them in these troubled times, may your god be with you xxx

Sent mine in. He was so brave for his family, and deserves to be remembered and honored.
Thanks for the great idea.

The must have made their selection before this drive ever started! Don't lose hope! James never quit at the first sign of adversity, neither should we!
It has come to light that this tragedy would never have happened were it not for some low-life vandals who cut the lock on the barricade that would have kept the Kims off the road that took James' life. The culprits will most likeley never be caught. We should do anything we can though to highlight this man who has (obviously) touched so many.
Keep posting... and check the link whre you can offer any aid to Kati because now she has to be super-human.

It was reported that the lock to the gate was cut byu vandals, but there was apparently an internal investigation by Bureau of Land Management which revealed that the agency had failed to block the road.
This tragedy affected us deeply. Not only did Kim show superhuman devotion by trying to save his family, but this could have been prevented.
We started http://www.travelsafely.us so that people across the U.S. could help one another with up to the minute and "on the ground" information regarding roads, routes, and other tips. It was the best way we felt we could honor James.
He got my vote. Thank you for suggesting this.

Thank you for giving us something to do, rather than to just read and weep-- I nominated James. Perhaps by focusing on this tragedy, its unfairness and futility will be softened when others learn from it. They will learn what a profoundly GOOD MAN James was, and also how to stay safe by not traveling those winter roads in Oregon.
As John Donne espressed in his poetry, "No man is an island... never send for whom the bell tolls... it tolls for thee...."
With tears and warmest regards for the entire Kim family, please accept my condolences and continuing prayers.
Thanks for the link ![]()
I believe James Kim is a worthy nominee for ABC's Person of the Week, and I have sent in my nomination. Although I knew of Mr. Kim only through his work for CNET, I could sense a gentle caring person. I think his efforts to save his family, as well as the efforts of all those involved in the search, are worthy of national recognition. Hopefully, reporting on the Kim family's tragedy will help prevent similar situations from recurring.
