Does upgrading system RAM help with games?

by bobb8888 - 12/4/06 12:31 PM

I am thinking of adding system RAM to my computer. It's a Toshiba Satellite P25-S5092 laptop with 32MB of separate video RAM. I apparently can't change the video RAM because it's a laptop.

I've currently got 512MB of system RAM and I am considering adding another 512MB or maybe more. Will this help with games?

Depends on the game and the issue.

Since neither detail was shared I can't give a straight answer except to note that 1G is a nice place to be.

The problem is jerky performance. Also, I turned down the resolution which seems to help a bit.
I am not a gamer, but thought I would try this one.

Could help. But what about what's running?

And what about NETWORK SHARES?

I often find a pass with Free AVG AntiSpyware (google.com) can help (pest control) and then we have network shares. Windows might be checking for some share or printer that is offline and that's a common performance hit.

But 1G will be a nice place to be but sadly you won't know if that fixes it until it's done.
