mp3 load from computer to t629

by ktle2 - 1/3/07 10:19 PM In reply to: its maddd hott by gunits50massacre

I bought the special t629 usb cable with the Samsung PC Studio software 3.0 to upload music files from my computer. I can't get the computer to connect to the t629. Has anyone been able to make this work this way? On the samsung support site it states you need to load the sd micro disk through a card reader hooked up to the pc. Also, I have a Mac, so can the t629 play aac files?
Thanks for any help!

Samsung T629

by webba2003 - 9/24/06 9:40 AM In reply to: its maddd hott by gunits50massacre

I bought this phone the morning it came out. Its an amazing phone. The cons are just minor. I can deal with them. I am very happy with the phone though.

Pros: Clarity, screen, mp3 player, mp3 player sound quality, camera is great; slider is nice; very sturdy phone.; camera options (black and white, sepia, negative, frames option and more)

cons: no flash (minor); custom ringtones are not very loud (yes I have turned it all the way up); camera is sensitive; cant cusotmize "hot keys" shortcuts like motorolas. My resption is "great" but I think that has to do with my area and this phone is just more sensitive to it. never got a dropped call though.

Overall, if you can deal with the cons .. this is an AWESOME phone. and I am picky about phones.

p.s. If anyone has any codes on how to get into the phone set up and change the ringing tone values, please let me know. ( I know there is a way for the samsung D series but I dont know about this phone yet...Thanks!)

Great phone

by soccer18 - 12/2/06 7:55 PM In reply to: Samsung T629 by webba2003

I have had this phone for about a month now.
Pros:
Call quality is generally quite good
Gorgeous screen
good basic menu set up
good performance
mp3 player has surprisingly good sound
good speaker phone
camera takes good pictures and decent video
allows a MicroSD card (up to at least 1GB, I don't know if it will allow a 2GB or bigger card)
bluetooth
Cons:
call quality can vary, and the call volume is a little to low
ringtones are "ascending" meaning that they start out very soft and then grow louder, often are not loud enough
vibrate is kind of weak
average battery life
keypad takes some getting used to
screen smudges easily (recommend a screen protector)
camera shutter sounds can not be shut off
camera is a little to slow to take pictures
the sub menus are not always the same (i.e. "4" is not always the delete function when applicable, sometimes "delete" will be 6, sometimes 2, sometimes something else) it varies from menu to menu

overall I am very happy with this phone, there are some things I would like changes, but overall they are extremely minor and do not detract terribly from the overall quality.

RIngtones

by IBrokeBenjamin - 1/1/07 8:46 PM In reply to: mp3 ringtones by kliquigan

The reason you can't set the mp3 as a ringtone is because its too long. The song can only be 30 seconds max in order to set it as a ringtone. So you should use some music editor to cut the song short. I suggest using Blaze Media Pro to cut your songs.

my t629 is havin problms wit da ringtons dat dont make sense

by jaykalia - 4/19/07 5:39 PM In reply to: RIngtones by IBrokeBenjamin

I used to have a t809 and i had the same problem. its wierd because i try to set mp3 ringtones that i copied to the phone from the micro sd card and it says "file to long" but the song but there was a song that was allready on the phone called "the great divide" which is way more that 30 seconds and can be set as the ringtone. that just doesnt make sense. Im going to try to make the ringtone that i want a little shorter and if that doesnt work than i dont know what to do.

also, most of the songs that i put on the sd card work but 2 or 3 say "unsupported file". I dont kno why but if anyone does plz help. i will appreciate it.

Getting your custom mp3s to work

by killerkabob - 4/26/07 2:47 PM In reply to: my t629 is havin problms wit da ringtons dat dont make sense by jaykalia

Hey guys,

If you're having difficulty getting custom mp3s to work, you have to make sure they're under 30 seconds long AND that they are set to 128 kbps! The last part is HUGE! You have to have them at 128kbps quality. I think you *may* be able to get away with 192kbps...otherwise the phone will not recognize the file.

This, to me, is a huge pain in the butt. I stupidly converted from a sony ericsson k790i to get a few extra bucks for it. The k790i was an amazing phone with smoothly animated menus, animated wallpaper capability, a 3.2 megapixel camera with xenon flash (still not AWESOME photo capability, but better than most cameraphones out there). Not to mention there were ZERO restrictions on mp3s. You could use any song with any length as your ringtone or for other custom sounds as well.

Sadly the k790i was too bulky for me. That's pretty much the only thing the samsung t629 has going for it in my opinion.

By the way, anyone know how to make custom sounds for the slider and other chimes that might get triggered by the phone? Some of the limitations on this phone are absurd!

No ringtone limits from phone to phone

Rachael from phone sherpa here..we've found that there really are no limits for file conversion from phone to phone

Getting mp3 ringtones on phones that dont allow it

by avaif - 8/25/08 7:42 AM In reply to: my t629 is havin problms wit da ringtons dat dont make sense by jaykalia

If that doesnt work go here and follow the guide to putting a long mp3 as ur ringtone. This includes many other phones which also restrict downloaded mp3s from being used as ringtones

microsd mp3 set as ringtone?

by radico - 1/6/07 6:08 PM In reply to: anyone get the new samsung t629? by aapt4

Hey I just got the t629, its a great phone by any standard. I just have a question, I called up T-mobile and they told me that Samsung does not allow you to set the mp3's uploaded by microsd from your computer as ringtones for incoming calls. Is this true, and if not is there an option to do that once you transfer the mp3's? Note: I did not buy a microsd card yet so I havn't tried. Thanks alot to anyone who helps!

T629 mP3 RINGTONES

by amico377 - 1/11/07 9:36 AM In reply to: microsd mp3 set as ringtone? by radico

I have the T629 through T-Mobile, and I have found they added allot of restrictions to it. I am having a lot of problems with being able to view pictures and videos that were taken from my Samsung T809. It says the image or video is unrecognized format. I also had to reduce the bit rate quality on my mp3's to under 192.

In answer to your question about the ringtones. I have found that you can create your own MP3 ringtones, as long as the are under a certain file size and/or 30 seconds or less.
