Confused about JVC nnFN97 D-ILA

I saw JVC D-ILA sets at Fry's, Best-Buy and some did have a clear problem with green.
Is calibration a required step for consumers, is it possible to DIY without fancy spectrometers and is re-calibration to be expected?

But I haven't seen all of them.
With HDTVs a service contract is almost a must have. Fry's has very good service contract I used to work at FRY's (and I STILL go there to buy) Part of my job was to handle the service contracts. In my store if a customer had a service contract we were told to bend over backwards for them if possible.
Make sure a service contract will cover calibration and lamps. John

However, some JVC D-ILA sets looked just fine (maybe the store failed to calibrate their sets).
I am hesitant in getting an appliance that will surely fail, need all these maintenance and thinking of getting a smaller flat LCD just to avoid all this hassle.
