To the Kims and all the CNET Networks staff.

God takes the good ones to keep them close to him.

God provides comfort

by mwrisner - 12/6/06 2:06 PM In reply to: My deepest and most sincere condolences by SantiagoCrespo Moderator

God is not the cause of the sad things in our lives. He provides comfort to those who are suffering, and He ensures that good can come out of even the most tragic events.

For never having met James Kim (much less KNOW him), I still feel such acute sadness. My prayers are with his family, friends, and co-workers. James was a brave man who was concerned for his family's welfare. There's a special place in heaven for men and women like him.

heavy heart

by jemimus - 12/6/06 1:42 PM In reply to: no podcast today by earlysound

I'd like to express my condolences to James' family and friends. I've been sitting at my desk not knowing what to do with myself since hearing about the tragedy. I had hoped that I would hear the good news that he was alive all morning.

To TMV and everyone at CNET, I'm sorry for your loss. Just as much as I enjoyed listening to James' podcasts, I know that you guys loved working with him. I can only imagine how devastated everyone at CNET must be. With the love and support from each other(and James' fans), I am sure you will get through this tough period.

As we all saw/read in the forums, James was loved by everyone he touched through his work and he will truly be missed.

I would also just like to say that I am very sorry for the loss, and that I am sure that the entire community will understand you taking some time off the podcast to recover from this.

Deeply saddened

by JSchwage - 12/7/06 7:23 AM In reply to: heavy heart by jemimus

Same here. I've just been so devastated, this is actually the first time I've posted a reply to any of the James Kim articles or forum threads. MP3 Insider and CNET for that matter just won't be the same without him.

I just pray that James is looking down at his family right now with a big smile on his face knowing they is safe.

I would've been more disappointed if there WAS a podcast today.

We're Here For You

by TrishMvhl - 12/6/06 1:55 PM In reply to: no podcast today by earlysound

Although we've never met, we know what's in your hearts this day. Comfort each other and take all the time you need. And know that your online family has its arms around you, surrounding you with support and hugs. James did so much in the name of love... and in turn was loved by so many. God Bless.

There are more important things in life than a podcast...

by bobbyashmore - 12/6/06 1:57 PM In reply to: no podcast today by earlysound

I will miss James, even though I never met him. I am deeply saddened by this news. I really feel for all of you who knew James in person.

It's very strange how something like a podcast can allow listeners to develop some strong connections to people we have never met. Listening 5 days a week, I hear more of you three (T,M&V) than I do of some of the people I know in person. The little bits of information about peoples' lives that slip into the banter of this and the other podcasts I listen to (MP3 Insider, being one of them) really let me relate to those people who have lives similar to my own, even if I have never really met any of them.

I really don't think I'd feel the same way about a news anchor or a movie star. I just don't know them as well, even if what I know of you all is limited to half-hour snippets. Thank you so much for putting so much time and effort into these podcasts, and in doing so, so much of yourselves.

It does hit hard to see a life that seemed to have some parallels to my own end so soon and so suddenly. James will be missed by a multitude of people who never really knew him, but that doesn't compare to how much he will be missed by those who did.

There are more important things in life...

I agree with you. I found myself telling people at work about the missing Kims before it made the national news, I referred to James almost as someone I knew, although in reality I only knew of his work. This is proof that this develops a true community.

May Kati and relatives have the strength to go on.

my thoughts and prayers with James' family and friends

by pmeroth - 12/6/06 4:40 PM In reply to: There are more important things in life than a podcast... by bobbyashmore

I couldn't agree more. I feel that these podcasts have allowed us to share some of these hard-working people's lives. I always got the sense when listening to James that he was a very proud father. I was so relieved to hear his wife and kids were safe, and then to hear he went off in search for help.. just further proof of what a truly wonderful soul he was. Their family, friends and co-workers will be in my thoughts a lot. Tom, Molly and Veronica please take your time with this. I can't imagine what you must be going through.

I agree. I listen each and every day with my 20 month old as we drive to day care and work. I feel like I know you guys more than some of my friends, and when I saw they were missing on CNN I was shocked. And then this afternoon I just sat and cried. There's a reason for everything. Go to www.jamesandkati.com to donate to his family. I know I did.
