I've been looking around for a small point-and-shoot, and I've narrowed it down to the Canon SD800 and the Sony T50.
But I really want to know how the interface for the T50 is, whether the touchscreen is cumbersome or not. Anyone have any experience with Sony's touchscreen cameras?
And anyone else got any other suggestions for other cameras in that size/price category with similar features (namely OIS), as I pretty much only looked at Sonys and Canons.
The T50 and N1/N2 are fishing in the same waters.
Both cameras have touch screens.
The N1/N2 has more megapixels
The T50 has image stabilization, the N1/N2 do not.
From what I read in users groups...the touch screen is OK.
I have one on a camcorder and like it.
I found no negative reports on either camera.
I have seen no reviews on the T50 or the N2.
But checking the older model "T" and "N", the shutter lag is very short. In the range of 0.1 to 0.3 second.

I was wondering the same thing. So today I went down to my local Circuit City store and tried out their demo model. I loved the touch screen! I have big hands and I find the tiny buttons on most ultra compact cameras are difficult for me to use. But the Sony T50 touch screen was a pleasure. You've probably heard that you have to use a stylus or have long fingernails to deal with it. Not true. I have only medium fingernails and I had no problem dealing with the touch screen. This is because 1) the screen is big and the 2) selector buttons are very generous in size. You may not even need fingernails to activate them. The touch was very responsive. Smooth like butter.
I also took some pictures and some video in store with the demo camera. Very, very nice results. But what really blew me away was the 'microscope' mode. Like macro mode in steriods. You can get very close to small objects and get good resolution and autofocus without busting your brain. I'm into to photographing insects, so this is just what I need.
Anyway, I was so impressed with the camera I went home and ordered one online a few hours later (for a cheaper price than Circuit City).
Hope this helps,
