Ipod connection to the car
by SinghGurkaran - 11/20/06 10:52 AMI am looking for something to connect my ipod directly to the car stereo (not fm transistors. What are some good models in a reasonable price range say between 100-250? Also which is the BEST one, regardless of price? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How does that work does it use the fm frequency? Is it effective? What do you use? I live on the east coast northern nj, next to the city so theres always some kinda of disturbance with the fm frequency that is why i prefer a direct connection to the stereo. Anyone know of one? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I picked up a 20 buck unit at StopNshop, popped the 2 AAA batteries in and fiddled with the radio to set a channel. Since it works so well I began to wonder why so many fuss about it.

I picked up a Belkin FM transmitter. It sounded crappy and I returned it. I totally wish I still had a cassette player in my car. The cassette adapter rocked!

You may have been unlucky. Try another maker.
There are ways to have a plug added to your system, but in this area I feel service is poor and the people too grouchy. I'd do this myself.

Not that I'm flush with cash or anything, but for me, it's more trouble than it's worth.
Bob, by any chance is your car antenna integrated into your back window? Mine is and somebody suggested that's why mine sounded so crappy.

The Odyssey has the antenna on the front passenger side, the Civic is dead center above driver and front passenger.
I see in the 2006 models many cars are fitting an audio jack. About time.

by reese959599 - 11/23/06 10:08 AM In reply to: Ipod connection to the car by SinghGurkaranIt dependes on your stereo unit if it is an aftermarket head unit it should be relativily cheap and easy to find a RCA (red & white) in jack. if its stock you can still get them but it will be a bit more expensive. the one for my pioneer deck is like $40-$50 the one for my dads truck that is stock is like $80-$90. then you just buy a good 1/8'' jack to RCA cable (monster makes a good one for like $20) and your all set plus the cable can be used to play it through your home stereo system as well. If you have a video Ipod you can use a camcorder cable (about $12-$20) and play your videos through your TV but you have to plug the red into the yellow the yellow into the white and the white into the red.
