''Firefox 2 still rules the browser roost for now, despite a much improved version of Internet Explorer. The most obvious new feature for IE 7 (tabs) has been in Firefox forever, and the security additions from Microsoft aren't enough for us to allay concerns over new possible exploits. Lastly, the extensibility of Firefox 2 is its knockout punch, and IE's add-ons cannot compare. The flexibility and customizability of Firefox might be best suited to more advanced Web users, but it has earned its spot at the top of the browsers.''

Fairly detailed comparison of IE7 and FF2 features.
"IE's add-ons cannot compare"
ALL OF IE's ADD-ONS ARE HOSTED BY CNET!
How can IE expact to do well in this area when their partnering company hates them.
...It's nice to see that the folks at CNET are not affected by that fact
(like in saying IE rules because they host the add-ons)
Both are still behind compared to Opera 9...
I just want to know something:
Did you second yourself on purpose, or were you just not paying attention?

Firefox 2 is the Winner over Internet Explorer 7 ???
I can no longer believe ANY review given by CNET. How much did you guys get payed by Firefox for that review?
My own use of IE-7 was NOTHING like your false reports. And I just updated yesterday with NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM!
(I have been working with and repairing computers for the past 30+ Years.)

I am a bit biased. Firefox 2 is my browser of choice in WXP, Linux, and Mac. Learn once. Use everywhere.
I also use IE7, and after some initial teething pains have not personally had a lot of problems. It is a better browser than IE6 and I have no intention of moving back.
However, I also have been involved in some of the browser problems in the CNet Browser forum. There are some real, unfixed problems with IE7 and these are cause some users a lot of problems.
The problems are serious enough that I made sure my daughter does not upgrade until I can hold her hand through the upgrade. She has several sites that she works with regularly that are / were IE6 required and specific. Good chance that they might not work with IE7.
The potential impact of upgrading is serious enough that many corporate sites have expedited the Microsoft "fix" to prevent auto-upgrade to IE7.
with that huge pocketbook full of money that FF uses to pay off every single reviewer that's ever loved it.

<sarcasm>They should just buy IE.</sarcasm>
Michael,
I noticed you never said why Internet Explore 7 is better than Firefox 2. All you pointed out is that you had no problems with IE7.
I had a few issues when upgrading to IE7 but that is not why I think FF2 is better. Even if I had issue upgrading to FF2 I still would think FF2 is better due to many many reason.
You said you updated with "NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM!", did you consider the speed of the update including a restart? For many people they want to be able to update with out a restart. Even though a restart might not be considered a problem in your mind, it is a problem for many people.
So, besides having a 'perfect' upgrade to IE7, why is it better than FF2?
Are you referring to just tabs in general? Or is there some way to preview the tabs before you go to them? I know in FireFox there is an extension in which you can hit ctrl-tab and it will show you a preview of your open tabs. But if Microsoft has done something like this with out an extension I would give them some credit.
Too tell you the truth I have not done tons of looking into IE7 just because I got attached to Firefox before. Maybe I should look into IE7 a bit more just to see what they have.
Yeah MS did include this feature: http://flickr.com/photos/spiri/274611756/in/set-72157594336928047/ ![]()
