I am a sort of a Mac Software Developer/ Video Editer/ Gamer/ Young Age Man. I am seeking the Mac line because of its sleek layout and very well graphics user.
Though I do not want something that will put a hole in my pocket; I need a small friend that will work for at least 5 years.
Alas! I travel. So I need a laptop when I am crossing the Atlantic Ocean or if I need to go from my big office, to my comfortable king size bed.
In my early attempts, I fairly bobbed down from Windows to try something new. Though I am not abandoning my old fellow, I am going to use Boot Camp OR Parallels Desktop for Mac and my once loved Windows XP Pro.
I have decided on picking my two brothers in Apple products:
Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro 15 inch w 128MB Video Card
2GB Memory
200GB HD Serial ATA @ 4200 RPM
Glossy Finish Widescreen Display
iWork Preinstalled
AppleCare Protection Plan
Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook 13.3 inch w Intel GMA 950 with 64MB shared w Memory
2GB Memory
200GB HD Serial ATA @ 4200 RPM
Glossy Finish Widescreen Display
iWork Preinstalled
AppleCare Protection Plan
These are my two candidates. If you dissagree with my choices mention your own, I'd be glad to look up your advice.
to be honest i'm fairly confused by your post. the price difference between a MacBook and a MacBook Pro is about $1000...the two laptops aren't even in the same playing field. it's like comparing a Canon point-and-shoot camera to it's top of the EOD whatever model.
going on the assumption that you work professionally in the fields that you listed (mac software developer/video editer/gaming or gamer) then neither of the laptops that you spec'd are suitable to your needs. an integrated video card won't meet your editing requirements, it's do-able in a sense like running photoshop on 128 mb of ram is do-able. 128mb of video memory isn't much better for a professional either. if you're a gamer/game designer, considering how most game released now need as much as 512 mb of video ram to run smoothly both of your choices are rather inadequate.
however, if you're a "i program occasionally, edit some home videos, game from time to time and i like cool new stuff" type of guy (nothing wrong with this at all) with budget limits then i'd say just go for the MacBook.
