I just got a new system that uses SATA drives. I have another SATA drive that I want to add as a 2nd drive and to get some old data off it.
Windows XP Home is already installed on the new system. What do I need to tell the BIOS in order to add the 2nd SATA drive?
Any help appreciated...
thx
easier to burn the data to CDs or DVDs and move it to the new system that way.
Does your BIOS allow you to designate BOOT order sequence ?
If yes...it might be as simple as making the selection there.
The only concern is what Windows will do finding another version of XP on the other HDD. Before proceeding...might be worthwhile asking that question in the WinXP forum. If push comes to shove...you could always put the old HDD into an external enclosure and get the data off that way. Once you get the data off...you could wipe the drive, partition it, format it and use it any where you want.
Let us know how you end up doing it.
