Get the "View in IE" plugin

by paulbell56 - 11/1/06 2:56 PM In reply to: exactly -On the rare occasions I find a page Firefox by slipacre

It exists for FF 1.5, not sure about 2.0....
...there's a great little Firefox plugin that gives one the ability to right-click on a page and 'view in IE'. This comes in handy when visiting the few sites (and they are fewer every day) that confuse Firefox.

So true!

by RJSales - 11/4/06 4:23 AM In reply to: Firefox makes IE moot by paul dexler

Why put up with Microsoft's registration checks and other invasive nonsense when Firefox gives you all the user features you could ever need in its basic form then allows you to custom design your package with hundreds of FREE ADD ONS. It appears to me that Microsoft is playing catch up in their 'new' features that Firefox has had all along.

What is your answer to the question asked?

by mrniceguy35 - 11/4/06 7:56 AM In reply to: So true! by RJSales

Are you saying that you don't like IE7's registration checks and other invasive nonsense. That is your dislikes about IE7? That wasn't the question posted by Cnet.com. Cnet never metioned Firefox in their question and poll. In case you forgot, the question was asked by Cnet what you dislike and like about Internt Explorer 7 not about Microsoft.

my apologiies

by RJSales - 11/4/06 8:31 AM In reply to: What is your answer to the question asked? by mrniceguy35

I thought my comment conveyed my opinion on IE7 rather concisely. However, to make it 100% obvious, I do not see any reason to download IE7 when it has less features than Firefox 2.0. That was my answer to the survey.

Apology accepted :)

And you have a perfectly good reason for not downlading and/or installing IE7:) I downloaded it and installed to see what it is like and it isn't much different from IE6 at least it's look. Like comparing the 1997 Chevy Cavalier car I used to have to the 2005 model I have now. They both have the same look as far s body frame, but the 2005 model has a built in cd player and other features.

IE 7

by Beverly K - 10/31/06 9:31 PM In reply to: Will you download and use Internet Explorer 7? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I use IE 7 and love it! You just need to get used to finding the old links such as file, Saving a picture or send page by email. It also has a good and easy way to remove only internet files, or cookies. I liked the IE 6 but you have to update yourself sometimes.

I have no problem with IE7 thus far but my requirements are not extensive.

by VirtualSith - 10/31/06 9:32 PM In reply to: Will you download and use Internet Explorer 7? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I usually use Maxthon browser and decided to try IE7.......big mistake.........it disabled the pull downs on all the web pages I visit and everytime I try to download a file it lunches DAP (download accelerator)....and even when I disable downloads by DAP it turns it on anyway.........and it really made me angry that in order to even install it I had to accept windows genuin advantage..........I'm wiping my drive and going with linux.........no more microsoft

IE7 sucks big time

by t97gtp - 11/3/06 10:39 PM In reply to: looks pretty but it sucks by VirtualSith

I thought I would download and try to see how much they copied of Firefox. As soon as I wanted to use outlook to send or forward a message it freezes up.
When I looked into tech solutions I found almost everyone is having problems with it. Back to Firefox and uninstalled IE7, IT SUCKS.

Couldn't if I wanted to

by SpiderJ - 10/31/06 9:40 PM In reply to: Will you download and use Internet Explorer 7? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Explorer was killed for Macs a long time ago.

I've no issue with tht except that their browser doesn;t conform to everone else's standards. Since so many people use it, lazy developers build sites that display like garbage on FireFox (PC or Mac) and Safari.

THAT is starting to bug me.

Not a very good poll question

by gsass - 10/31/06 9:44 PM In reply to: Will you download and use Internet Explorer 7? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Your choices for answers were too limited. Yes I downloaded and installed IE7. I did it for two reasons. 1) I wanted to see if I would like it or not and to check out the new features. 2) I didn't want to wait for the Windows Update forced install as I may not have had time to deal with problems that may have shown up at that time. But am I using it? Only when forced to by websites that live in an IE only world. I downloaded the Firefox 2.0 update and it didn't take me long to come to the conclusion that FF (even 1.5) is better than IE7. There are just too many nice things about FF that IE doesn't have and I don't want to browse without - like the Adblock add-on, built-in spell check (no add-ins required), etc. Plus I just like the way things are more (to me anyway) logically laid out in FF over IE7. So in response to your survey, I picked Maybe, but if you had better choices, I would have picked Staying with Firefox.

Me too!

I agree with everything you said. It's too bad that MS is still playing catch-up after all these years.

I tried FireFox once...

by aka_tripleB - 11/1/06 2:19 AM In reply to: Not a very good poll question by gsass

and it pissed me off so much, I wanted to smash my machine to get rid of it. Now, I don't remember what it was I didn't like, but I decided then that until Microsoft did something to IE that made me feel the same way, I would never think about going back.
