obviously im joking.
first off, who cares if its next gen? well, who cares other than some pimple faced keyboard jockey? Next gen or not, it just doesnt matter. The only thing that matters is if it entertains people. Also, the graphics are not 'identical' to the CG. They may not be a whole lot better but its not the same graphics. Also, whats wrong with CG graphics? They still have some great looking games and if you think they havent had beautiful games then you are just fooling yourself...or hating blindly.
using the DS as an example of nintendos failure is not a good argument. Whether you like it or not, the DS dominates the handheld market by a vast margin and the PSP is simply picking up crumbs.
no games? they have more launch games than PS3 and i believe more than xbox did (not sure). All the major players in software have been standing in line for nintendo. Its easier to make games for it and most importantly CHEAPER, hence more profit for the company.
nintendo purely kid games? go play Killer 7 and tell me that a kid game.
Okay, thats enough. I wont bother countering everyone of your weak and trite arguments. They are either poor in reasoning or flat out incorrect due to supporting facts.
Bottom line, if you dont like the wii, fine. But dont pretend to be an objective witness. Its obvious you are more one sided than a KKK meeting. unless you have something original and semi intelligent to argue, then dont.
nintendo has kiddie games. sorry buddy. They may have one or two games that arnt but for the most part if you are a kid and like to play silly games Nintendo is the way to go.
i didnt say nintendo has no kiddy games. I was countering his argument that Ninendto is ONLY kiddy game. Maybe you should pay attention more.
Nintendo may not have always had the best ideas (virtual boy), but it has always had the best ideas (Nintendo DS). I respect that Nintendo isn't just blindly going where they think is going to make the most money. The videogame industry has become stale. It is the same types of games, the same genre of games, and the same way to play those games.
Nintendo is taking a leap with the new controller and we will see if it pays off. This leap paid off for the portable market where the DS is selling much more than the PSP.
You say its the same old games, but you obviously haven't played Advance Strike, Phoneix Wrighting, WarioWare, Brain Age, Animal Crossing, meteos, Contact....
Yes, there are a ton of mario based games, but they all have a new feel to them. Yes there are a ton of metroid games, but they all have a new feel to them. Yes there are a ton of zelda games, but these are the best games ever played. Check out what IGN's hot list game is and has been... Twilight Prnicess. Ask anyone what their favorite videogame of all time was: Ocarina of Time.
Nintendo goes for quality games, not just quantity. That is why they can justify having the same characters.
The most entertaining games will and always have been Nintendo made.
The Wii will use the same Nintendo franchises, new innvoative games, and new innovative game control to bring the best videogaming experience yet.
I wish it had better graphics, but I'm more than satisfied with what is going to be given to me.
Innovations are what keeps the gaming industry alive. There is only so much we can improve with graphics now before the difference become unnoticable. People only play video games because it is novel. After a few years it becomes boring and the game companies have to come out with a new console, before now the difference has been sufficient to make it feel new but now as graphics becomes better the improvements in hardware isn't enough. Nintendo is going in the right direction by finding different ways to play to make it fun instead of just going for the easy option of just improving the hardware.
These asinine arguments were put to bed months ago when the availability of the consoles was determined. At $600 a pop and 400,000 units (State side), Sony can hope to make $240,000,000 off of the US based on consoles alone. Nintendo will make just over that with $250,000,000 if they sell just 1 million units (not including games or anything). The claim that there will be 4 million units available by years end. If you can't do the math on this one then don't ever try to play the stock market.
sony is losing a good chunk of change for each PS3 sold.
In terms of profit it is true that Sony is going to get blown out of the water at launch.
Sony will make up the difference in the next year, but the problem with Sony is that when you do sell 400,000 units, you can only sell 400,000 games. That is not much incentive to create good launch titles. Developers don't stand to sell to many games.
4 million though means the possibility of four million games for nintendo.
Nintendo's stock will increaese dramatically within the next month and a half and then probably level out. Look for PS3 to increase well at launch, but not as much and then graduall move up as the year goes by.
i dont think sony will turn a profit for the PS3 until next christmas...and i think thats being generous.
You do realize that since Sony decided to use the Blue Ray technology, instead of the far superior HD-DVD technology, the load time is extremely slow. So to counter this they decided to have you load much of the game load information onto the hard drive (at least 5 gigabytes of information from the disc). Luckily this will make load times faster and allow you to play 12 games on the 60 GB PS3 and 6 games on the 20 GB PS3. If you need or want to add games you will have to uninstall the information from another game that is on the hard disc. This I think is one of the best perks of the PS3. It allows me to keep my system clean and free of other games and junk I don't want at the same time protecting me from installing crap that sony deems unimportant. Also it is very revolutionary. No other system allows me to do this i think its great that the try to control what I want to play on my system that I bought for 600 dollars. Also it takes about nine minutes to install these games before you can play them.
There is a very simple reason why PS3 will outsell its competitors: Its the best machine and it has a stronger brand loyalty than the other systems.
Even when the PS2 was an inferior machine to the Xbox, it still outsold it (and PS2 volumes today are still not that bad). The playstation brand had brought the first huge step forward in gaming in recent history with the PS one - and people still remember that. Also, SONY had been supporting PSone for a very long time - more so than Microsoft did with the original XBOX. So customers may feel that the PS3 will be around and fully supported for much longer than the 360.
The biggest obstacle to the PS3 is the price. However, I see 3 different groups of potential customers. First are die-hard gamers - they will fork out the dough for the best machine. Second, are the slow adopting gamers - out of these they will either choose to run their existing system, buy a Wii/360 or wait for the price of the PS3 to drop. Third, are the people like myself who are more interested in its media center capabilities. The PS3 seems to be ahead of the 360 in this department.
Although the Wii comes 3rd, I have to give credit to Nintendo from a business standpoint and also from the standpoint of customers. They KNOW that they cannot compete on bleeding edge technology with Microsoft and Sony - instead they target a new market niche. They will not be losing money on the consoles from day one. So if you are a Nintendo shareholder, you would be very happy.
I am not anybody's fan boy (I actually hate SONY). But the reality is, the PS3 and XBOX360 try to attract a very similar audience but the PS3 is the better machine while the 360 is just cheaper (not if you buy the HD-DVD add on though). Meanwhile the Wii is a niche product. In the end, people are going to know that the PS3 is the newer better machine from SONY and will ask themselves whether it is worth the extra $100 or so. I think they will pay the money.
Though, i'm not too sure if your conclusion is correct, I think it is the first time in this thread someone has laid out a rationale argument on the PS3 side of the coin. You actually used factual information to back up your arguments and were not preachy!
I'm impressed!
you missed out on how crappy this sytem will probablly be in terms of trying to control what you play on it.
I think that the Wii will win because it owns! BOOYEAH!!!!:)
I am not sure what you mean. Both Microsoft and Sony do pretty much the same thing in terms of restrictions. The rootkit fiasco was a huge embarassment for Sony. My guess is that they would think twice about that.
Besides, Sony management is saying that the future is downloads - so you would think that they would try not to suffocate the consumer too much.
Then again....anything is possible.
